Coolant Disappearing, White Smoke

hi

i have my car for 3 years now and i have never had any problems with it. but just few days ago engine temp scale reached red zone when i was stuck in a jam. turning heating to max helped and i was in a hurry so i just drove home. next morning checked coolant level - it was empty -__-. since then coolant just keeps disappearing. also u can see white smoke coming out when engine is warm (for some reason its brilliant when its cold). checked oil - seems ok. apart from that car drives smoothly, no obvious drop in power..

what do you think is wrong and what would be best to do? take it to a garage, ignore it or maybe use "magical" quick-fix for 30 quid?

I would certainly suspect either your head gasket has gone or head/block is cracked

I agree that sounds like a head gasket gone, but there is a quick fix.

Fill the system and add a bottle of Kseal and follow the instructions on the bottle it does work from experience but it's only short term.

Get it looked at asap.

hi k seal wont seal a head gasket if its blown there is no quick fix take it to a garage and they will tell if its gone or not

As the others say, take it to the shop and let them do a Pressure-Test of the cooling system, they should have the gear for that.

My mrs golf had this and it turned out to be the thermostat was seized. The coolant was coming straight out of the expansion tank hence the white steam (smoke?) £10+vat for new stat sorted.

Do you have mayonnaise on the inside of your oil filler cap? (White creamy gunk that resembles mayonnaise)?
