Hi all

I have a 2005 IS200 se auto

Lexus B'ham quoted £280 for a 50k service plus £250 for timing belt change, although they said its not recommended to do the timing belt this early

is that a good price anybody?

well if they replace the waterpump with the 50k service yes if not you can do it yourself will cost you something in the regions of 80 quid incl some hours to change all filters, all fluids, sparkplugs and all brake pads.

I would check the timingbelt first to see if there is any weird wear on if yes, you might be better of just getting them to do the timing belt & water pump at the same time.... (also for OEM parts the prices are quite right but DIY makes owning a IS200 a lot cheaper)

Had my timing belt done two years ago by Lexus Chester for £280 (just the belt) - Piece of mind really after 75k and belt being 7 years old. Its not just the cars mileage to consider but the belt life itself - if a cars only done 20k miles and is 15 years old then the belt must be put into question - depends on the rubber as it will degrade after a while but i suppose a lot of factors come into play regarding this.
