Loss Of Power !

Recommended Posts

Hi ive had my lexus stood up for about 3-4 months and it was left with minimul fuel (approx 4-6 ltrs ), after puttting it back on the road it started first time like a dream. i went to take it down the road and it started to miss fire real bad, i put it in the garage and they changed the plugs and no probs on the diagnostics. it is now revving up and ticking over fine but has no power, the car is totally gutless i can barley get 50mph up the slight hill near me when i would of usually got near the 80mph mark !!!! some1 has told me it might be the clutch slipping even though u cant hear it or really feel, he said the power is there it just cant get it to the road........any ideas please folks :-) :whistling::whistling::wacko:

if the clutch is slipping then when you put your foot down in gear the engine will rev up without the speed increasing.

are any warning lights coming on?

.

Hi ...as you mentioned the car was parked for 3 4 months. .my instinct says it could be fuel itself. ..or you should get the pump and fuel filter checked.

If fuel is no good car wont rev..and You may also hear the whistle kind of sound when you accelerate...which indicates air trapped in fuel system. Get the fuel pump checked.
