Newbie With Input Shaft Bearing Help

Hi all

I have just bought a 2000 is200 manual and i have the dreaded whine through all the gears!

I have bought a new exedy clutch kit but i also want to replace the input shaft bearing while its all in bits!

can anyone help me with some help on how to change the bearing? or a how to link? and also a part number for the bearing?

The gear box whine is pretty normal mate. How bad a whine are we talking? A bad input shaft bearing will rattle not whine when the car is under load low down in the rev range, say under 2500rpm

Tbh! It sounds supercharged, the engine also sounds a bit whiney till I put my foot on the clutch and it runs s silent again, so do you think it's maybe just the release bearing in that is noisy ? Thanks brett

On a push type clutch like fitted to the is200, the release bearing is only engaged when the clutch pedal is depressed.

My box was also noisy so I replaced the oil with Titan GL-5 75W90 gear oil.

What a difference.
