1997 Gs300 Auto Gearbox

Hello, my 1997 gs300 gearbox has failed. The engine no is2jz0507825, and the vin jt153jse700******. (dohc straight six0.) Did lexus use the same gearbox throughout production of the gs mk1? Will a gearbox from a 1996 model fit? Thank you in anticipitation. Mark

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

Sorry to hear about your transmission failure, do you know why/what has failed?

The transmission was the same across the model range from 08/93 t0 07/97 so any transmission between these dates will fit including your mention of a 1996 model.

I have edited your VIN details as they could be used inappropriately shall we say.

sorry to hear about your autobox failure.you should be able to pick one up very quickly as there are quite a few gs300 in breakers yard you should be able to get one for around £100 to £150. hope you get it sorted quickly and get another mk1 back on the road not many about now.

ive got a 96 mk1 gs300 sport ive had it 5 years no problem at all its gone through 5 MOT"s no problem.these are awesome motors.
