What Colour Wheels On A Black Car?

Hi Guys,

What colour alloys will suit a Black IS200? I currently have the silver 11 spoke alloys on my car.

Thinking of changing the colour of the alloys to either black or grey,

Does anyone have any photos of a Black IS200 with either black or grey 11 spokes alloys?

Thank you

I'm not a fan of black wheels really, especially on black cars. But saying that I've seen black wheels on a white Focus RS and they looked good. Shadow chrome is nice, diamond cut face, hyper silver. Does depend on which wheels too.

Black wheels on lighter cars look goodbut only some. Some rims depending on the style just look like steels from a distance with no character. Chris's rims on his old car changed my opinion on some. Ive got shadow chrome and love the dark shine they give (when clean) lol

Hi Mate,

Can you post a link to photos of your car? The display picture is too small for me to see.

Thanks

This is a subject that relies on personal choice.

I prefer lighter wheels on black cars myself but grey/ gun metal can also look nice.

I had a white 5 series and had the wheels changed to gloss black, even on a white car when it was first done I had second thoughts as from a distance the wheels didnt seem to stand out. After a while though that soon changed and would have done the same again.

  • 1 month later...

A quick update! I've just brought some OEM 5 spoke alloys, the best looking wheel on the IS in my opinion. These badly need a refurb.

As for the colour, I think I'm going to stick to a bright silver, as this will stand out on my black IS200.

What do you guys think?

I'll be selling my 11 spoke alloys soon!

I recently did exactly the same. Got rid of my anthracite 11 spokes and put back on the original 5 spokes after getting them back to OEM sparkle silver and diamond cut. My IS is also black and in my opinion is the best suited wheel for the IS. As well as Aero's which I alternate as the mood takes me.

This is mine after about a month with the refurbed 5 spokes. I'm OCD now, park 3 foot from the kerb, clean them every other day (till the novelty wears off, haha!)

Crap tyres on at the moment as it got them with the refurb, I'll wear them down a bit before upgrading.

Couldn't get this pic in the above post, not easy to do from iPhone. Not great quality either.

Wow, that looks amazing! I think I'm sticking to silver, not getting them diamond cut though, too pricey!

Thanks mate. It's more or less bog standard never think people really want to see that, the car mod fund always seems to go elsewhere. Keep it clean and well serviced, can be a bit OCD with it :-)

Diamond cutting is very pricey, but worth it for the final OEM look. But they take some looking after. Have you considered the hyper silver look or shadow chrome. There are places that can do the inners a darker silver than the rim to give the impression of a machined face.

I think that's the best way to be honest, keep it clean, and well serviced. Subtle mods are nice. All I've done is get the 'Sport' grille fitted. Thinking of a boot lip spoiler and that's about it really.

Haven't thought about those two colours really, but I think I'm sticking to silver, can't beat it really.
