Hi Paul,

Junction Block Relay I would buy from Lexus and have a auto electrician fit, and if that doesn t fix it , get a ABS unit from breaker, also important is NEVER take heed of anything Duncan Roberts types, he is ALWAYS negative, he is the devil on your shoulder telling you you are too ugly and your ***** is too small!

Also as boxbrownie pointed out join club Lexus US, best thing I ever did, and I run my RX300 on Fiesta money ( not petrol obviously ), every problem is covered, every DIY job has a picture guide so even the worst home mechanic ( me ) can do it.

Lexus parts are very expensive ( more than Mercedes ) and their hourly rate is huge, You really do have to be relatively wealthy to have repairs done with them ( their Essential Care Servicing for vehicles over 5 years old isn t too bad if you wish to keep your MDSH )

Good Luck

Jason

Probably to be expected with a car that age, they cost less to buy but can be expensive to keep running. Difficult to have it both ways.

I must say you are as much use as a chocolate fire guard why the hell did you bother replying unless you have some usefull info get a life man you sound as interesting as watching a plank of wood warp paint dries quicker

Now now, not saying I disagree :whistling: but it would be a shame to bring the levels down to the Mercedes forums I frequent, now they do get very bitchy

:D

Hi,

surely the point of this ( quite excellent ) forum is to offer HELP and ADVICE with the running of our Lexi, regardless of how much money one has, if I could afford a new RX450H I would certainly buy a Range Rover Sport :whistling: ,alas I can only afford an old car and afford to run and holiday a wife a 2 daughters!

Also bear in mind that a low mileage rx400h will cost more in depreciation alone than your 2003 Rx300 will cost in depreciation, repairs and half your annual fuel!

oh and you dont have to live with a CVT! HA HA I am a bitch :ooh-ducky:

My thoughts entirely, and the reason I am selling my 2010 ML and keeping my ultra reliable 2003 RX.......most of the posts in here are helpful and usually good advice, you just have to occasionally turn a blind eye to the other stuff.

Duncan, the car maybe older... but it's only done 47k miles! - still a spring chicken...

I am always suspicious of technicians who give you quotes based on an error code and without a thorough investigation.

as suggested, I would trawl US sites... check here for instance:

http://www.clublexus.com/forums/esp_search.php?query=CO274&type=gcs

One post suggests that it could "just" be the brake pump. Another mentions a corroded loom.

Can you go to another dealer for a second opinion?

Hi,

all cars have problems, my RX300 had a transfer problem at 45K, Lexus Sheffield quoted around 2k to fix, gearbox specialist in Doncaster did same job for £479.

I would wager if Lexus has quoted £350 for fix you wouldnt have even turned your PC on, its just that its always 1k plus at Lexus, thats why they can afford beautiful showrooms, excellent coffee and service, and why you always get a luuurvly courtesy car.

Like all main dealers not just Lexus they just change out probable parts until its fixed, do your best to stay clear of them when possible, Do some deep research on clublexus, over 400 000 RX300 sold in the US, so if it can go wrong it has gone wrong and chances are its on clublexus, the Americans do use some slightly different terms to describe certain things but its very self explanatory, also you can just join the club its free and post your exact problem!

Cheers Jason

Sound like a job for an auto electrician to carry out the necessary checks first, but should u need an abs pump there are a number of company's that should be able to fix it for you, like BBA REMAN / ACTRONICS /AUTOTRONICS /ECUTESTING they may all not do Lexus pumps but worth a call.

I had a car where the ABS light came on (a Hyundai) and the problem turned out to be just a cracked ABS disc that cost £70 to replace. Worth a check...

The dealer was pigging useless - it was someone on a forum who suggested it.
