Best Looking Car Ever Made? My Vote Goes To

Whilst listing previous cars for a different thread, I was thinking about the best looking car ever made. I love the looks of my Mk 2 Jag and of my Lancia Flavia 2000 HF Pininfarina Coupe. I also think my deep red Lexus LS 400 is an very elegant car. The longer I have it, the impressed I am.

However, in my opinion, the most beautiful car ever designed is the Lancia Aurelia B20. Sadly, it will always be beyond my means, but the simple lines and art deco features make it stand out unlike any other car I have ever seen. I think it is absolutely stunning

Anyone agree, or have different suggestions?

I just googled Lancia Aurelia B20 and I agree, it does looks nice. :) Was it only available as a coupe?

However... beauty is in the eye of the beholder isn't it? On that note, this is what I consider to be the best looking car ever made, the very rare Nismo Z-Tune:

Love its aggressive stance. Boy would I kill to have one of those... :yahoo:

IMO The Ford Shelby GT500 1967. It is no where near as elegant as the other cars mentioned but just looks like it is build for driving. (although being a big USA muscle car I bet it is great in a straight line and awful going round corners, also it is a Ford so you would need to build up a great relationship with the garage).

However if I could have any car this would be it.

Closely followed by an Ferrari 250 GT California Spider and the Aston Martin DB5.

In the meantime (until the lottery comes up) I am more than happy with my IS250 SE :flowers:

Plus 1 for the DB5, I had a corgi James Bond one as a kid (although as I recall Bond still got caught despite all the gadgets). I also love the 60's Mustangs, especially as a recent V8 convert. I could probably list dozens of cars I find beautiful, but the Aurelia B20 is the only one I would absolutely have to own if I could afford one.

The Nismo does not look like any other car on the road when it was built then and even now which in my opinion wil fall under one of the best loking cars ever made. same goes for these W124 model Mercedes-Benz. I have always liked the looks and design of them even till today and this was when Mercedez put heart and soul into building a car. I recon it makes it to one of the best looking cars ever made lists.

i think you can admire the merc for the way its built etc,but its not beautiful,as everything beauty is in the eye of the beholder,i saw an alfa 8c in the flesh a couple of years ago,a very exspensive limited edition car it was lovely, most italian cars alfas ,lancia's and maserati especially some 50 & 60 cars are beautiful, most astons, citroen ds decapotale and sm,and facel vega among my favourites

Yes, it is all subjective of course. I have had a couple of Merc W124's and they were on my shortlist before opting for my LS 400. Fantastic engineering but I don't see them as that elegant or good looking. I viewed a couple and they looked dated to me. Some Maseratis and Alfas are stunning. It is a cliché, but the Italians have imagination and style when it comes to car design. I never dared invest in one though. The electrical wiring on my Lancia is something to behold.

A couple of photos of a Lancia 2000 HF Pininfarina Coupe, in the same colour as mine. Mine needs some restoration, but has done less than 50000 miles. It has a boxer flat 4, 2 litre fuel injected engine, 5 speed gearbox, electric windows and power steering. Pretty advanced for its time and a beautiful drive. Not many about, as they were hand made and cost more than an E type jagLancia%20Flavia%2020%20Coupe%20HF%20fron

no doubt the Italians can design beautiful looking cars mostly ones which Pininfarina have pencil'd at the same time, a beautiful car need not always have to have the sexy looking curves and lines here and there and that's where the Germans and Japanese come in. sometimes a beautiful car needs to look solid, needs to look well engineered ,and needs to look rough but in a beautiful way once you catch it at an angle..

It has to be The E Type Jaguar for me. It didn't do what it said on the label, by todays standards it about as fast as a Reliant Robin, it is bloody uncomfortable, unreliable but my god does she look great.

I have a friend in Cornwall who has an all original 1961 Red Mk1 Roadster 4.2 with just 1400 yes 1400 miles on the clock.

Top of my list has always been the Aston Martin Lagonda. Still wish I could afford to buy (and maintain!) one!

Next...

Audi lovers who hate the lexus front end will be disappointed! Personally love that audi and r34!

OK IMO what you want to do is find yourself an e-type, a bucket of suds and a sponge, proceed to wash it. Start at the front headlight, and take the sponge all the way along the curves to the rear lights.... V12 is best for this unforgettable experience!

E-type a very close second to the Citroen DS..........in it's time it looked like a space ship compared to the Austin Cambridges and Renaults........

And it's still a thing of beauty.......as is the E-type of course :)

Your friend could buy Cornwall if he has a Mk1 with that mileage :)

E type has got to be the most beautiful car ever designed, not reliable, not comfortable , but beautiful ... Even Mr Ferrari said it at the time .....
