Dilemma About Road Tax/logbook , Without V5C Or Reminder

Hi

ive bought a is200 from a family friend, was meant to apply for logbook but got delayed as I been really busy with work and cars and family over past few weeks,

he has misplaced the logbook so didn't get a v5c and so I was hoping he will get a tax reminder through the post but that hasn't happened either, so last shot was to fill in a v62 (new owners form) and take it to post office and they would tax it and send off for new logbook with a fee of 25 pound but apparently dvla rejected the taxing on the car, I was told to call up dvla and when I did I was told I have to send in v62 direct to dvla swansea and can take upto 6 weeks for logbook but also the tax? Now I have no issues waiting 6 weeks for logbook but the tax disc too crikey long time for my car too be off road.

So bearing in mind car is still on previous owners name, can he do anything to get the damn thing taxed and then I can apply for logbook? can he call a certain number and get a tax reminder sent out to his address?

any help would be appreciated?

If he happens to still have insurance covering the car and the mot is valid he should be able to tax on line . It usually only takes a few days for disc to arrive . Obviously would be sent to his address. Not sure if it would work if you have insurance recorded on insurance database . If so then try it yourself.

hey buddy thanks for your reply, I will ask him now if his still insured but I do doubt it, and my insurance can be removed at any time so not a problem,

is there anyway he could get a tax reminder sent out to him (v11) or another way with his details?
