Hi folks

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the standard alarm on a Mk1V LS.

Mine keeps going off intermittently during the day where I park near my local station.

I don't want any aggro from the house owner opposite where I park and just need to temporarily disable it till I can find time to check it out.

I am hoping that i can just pull a fuse but knowing the LS it will not be a simple as that.

Anyone any ideas.

Really would like to get this sorted as it is rather embarassing.

I appreciate that delving into the inns and outs of a security system is probably not the best thing to do on a public forum, but is anyone willing to help me 'off forum' locate the relevant wiring so that I can try and introduce say a remote switch that I can use to temporarily disable the klaxon and horns that sound when the alarm triggers.

I have got to the stage now where I have had to change my train route to work as I keep getting snooty messages left on the car in the street where I currently park.

As I said in my earlier post the daft thing is when its sat on my drive it is perfect.

I have been to Lexus and they want £150 just to take the car and look over it before they even do any work. The chap I spoke to was unsure as to whether there is a 'sensititvity control' located somewhere in the installation.

Has anyone got an electronic copy of the MK 4 electrical wiring manual by any chance.

Thanks chaps.

Hi,the same problem with my Mk3 ......... census of opinion is :

There are probably metal and other objects of some description in either the door pockets or the centre consoles. REMOVE THEM

this might, just might stop the sodding alarm from going off for no apparent reason.

Mine is triggered by road vibrations, cars, motorbikes, people, whatever and for no apparent reason.

Whilst on your driveway it's ok, of course.

Just a thought.

I had this problem with my series two LS, it all went away when I replaced the car Battery.

I'm guessing some sort of fluctuating voltage caused it.

Your later model may be different but might be worth swapping the Battery for a known good one, if you have access

to one.

I maybe wrong, am not near my car and manual, but I believe that when you lock the doors with the remote, along with closing all windows and moonroof, it locks the doors and flashes the indicators to show it has actioned and set alarm. Pressing close button again, disarms siren, and is reported with a beep and indicators flashing again.

I'll reread the manual and report back.

Might be an optional dealer setting though.

Agree with metal objects.

Problem with my Mk4 was parking at office or around the corner from house.

Turned out to be WiFi interefering, and having a metal tyre pressure gauge in centre console did not help.

Once I took out all metal bits and bobs and put them in tupperware box in glove box the problem not occured since.

had same with a Mk2 as well.

WiFi routers these days can push a strong signal quite a distance, and so this we not such an issue 10 years ago, when WiFi was just getting going.

The railway station if it has business grade WiFi type euipment may interfere with alarms up to 100 meters away.

Why the LS is sensitive is because the LS stopped being made when Windows XP was a baby, and WiFi for Joe Public was a distant dream. That's progress for you

I have the complete OEM wiring manual for the series IV LS400, if you PM me your email address I would be happy to scan the relevent pages and send them to you.

There is a lot going on as it comprises of 6 A4 pages, the horn/sounder is listed on the diagram so disconnection should be fairly straight forward.

There is a button to disable the alarm on mine that I have got into the habit of pushing every time I leave the car to avoid this problem. There must be an option to disable your alarm for journeys on ferries etc.

Been looking into this over the weekend though alarm has not been playing up.

I notice that when I lock the car on the remote I get one flash of the indicators but when I lock it again I get 4 flashes, does anyone know what this means?

Also found an alarm sensitivity module on eBay for a 1997 car, not sure if this was fitted to the later Mk1v's, any ideas Steve?

Steve - by the way did you get my message with my email address re the manual pages you kindly offered to scan for me.

I think the four flashes indicates the alarm is disabled. Try it. Lock the car twice and rock it.
