Parked up at EMA, in the dark at 5.00 in the morning and thought, now's the time to connect my new Solar Panel to keep the Battery charged.

Felt about down there for the bonnet catch, released it and went to the boot for the Solar Panel , couldn't open the boot, PANIC !

Luckily I had recently relocated my handbook from the boot to the glove box, phew !!!

Realised I had inadvertently turned on the immobiliser.

Not the kind of fright I needed at the start of my holiday.

😧

Hi Chris,

I won't know if it's any good until I get back to pick it up from the airport.

Then I will be able to tell you if it is any good & what make it is.

Cheers.

Well here's my report on the effectiveness of the Solar charger that I used when I left the car parked at Midlands Airport for 8 days.

Brilliant !!

The piece of kit is called, 4W Solar Briefcase N05HN

Pictures attached.

The old girl started like she'd been on a good run, absolutely no hesitation.

Shall be using it again later in the year when she will be standing for 16 days.

If memory serves me right the charger cost about £24 delivered.post-48279-0-67061800-1397403100_thumb.jpost-48279-0-67061800-1397403100_thumb.jpost-48279-0-67061800-1397403100_thumb.j

i was expecting a 10 page written report to include hypothesis, before voltage, after voltage together with a bar graph showing total voltage generated by the solar charger with detailed breakdown of peak performance in relation to the hour of the day and outside temperature.

no seriously I will consider one of these - do you know if it works without direct sunlight?

As you can see from the graph illustration below the solar panel produced excellent results although eficiency was down some 20.8% due to the ambient OAT being at less than 20 degrees Celcius and a 10 knot wind approacing from a south westerly direction.

Precipitation during the test although measured was not taken into account on this occasion.

I have therefore concluded ....... it works !!! :)
