Ideas On Prices On Coil Sticks?

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering any ideas on prices for the coils replacement?

I have been advised to change all 6 coils and the plugs. 3 of my coils are not firing, been quoted £580 for all 6 and a set of platinum plugs. The coils are Blueprint are are supposed to be top quality, I expect you can get cheaper replacements but I do want a quality replacement set.

Any help/advise would be great.

Thanks.Lee.

Hello Dave, yes I was quoted £75 plus vat each today for the coils.Denso IK22 plugs are for a standard engine I beleive.I think I will need a cooler running plug...what do you reckon?

I priced up the same Blueprint coils elsewhere and can get them for £40 each plus vat(£48) much better price I think.

However I have managed to source a full set of 6 coils from a Lexus breaker, paid very little in comparison plus I will have 3 spares now.I am expecting delivery tomorrow.

Thanks.Lee.

Ik22 are for turbo/charged cars.

Ik20 are OEM.

Coils are stupid price from Lexus, about £100 each. I know who you got the coils from

Are right ok, what sort of money are these? I was looking at getting a set of HKS plugs made by NGK,very expensive though £16 each plus vat, total for a set of 6 £115.20.

Chris,I'm not sure if you are thinking of the same spares guy, could be one of two that I know of..lol.

Thanks chris I knew I was right lol

Sorry Dave,I thought I read somewhere they were for standard cars, clearly not then.I would be interested to see how much the Densos are,I will look on the bay now.

Thanks.Lee.

Just looked on the bay, can't see any listed for Lexus but the ones I saw are for 2002-2005 cars £9.85 each, these seem only to be rated to 200bhp,if this is the case they will be no good to me as I'm running around 300 bhp.

I may need IK24 OR IK27's possibly. The trouble with these plugs is they run great when the fuelling is spot on but foul up the plugs very quickly if the fuelling isn't right.I know from experience with the cossie. They do make the car idle very smoothly though.

Thanks.Lee.

  • 4 weeks later...

I just replaced all 6 coil packs on my IS200 last week........cost me R7500! :megaangry:

I was advised not to buy aftermarket ones, but instead should get the OEM Denso ones from Lexus themselves....

Must say though, the car feels like a different car after changing these coil packs......Fuel consumption seems to have improved as well....

Hi out of curiosity why buy secondhand coil packs?no way of telling how long they will last?what condition they are in?will only turn out being a false economy, certain service parts are better bought brand new.Would you buy second hand plugs?oil filter?I definitely wouldn't

New ones are very expensive as you say, well the Denso and NGK coils anyway, at least you have got it sorted now and it's running better.

Thanks.Lee.

Lee - Yup, they cost me a packet of money, but I dont mind spending a bit of my cash on my IS200. I love the car to bits and she's worth the money. Besides, the original coil packs lasted 14 years - thats pretty impressive.......
