Hi everyone

I need help. I have decided to have my LS430 renovated by a Mr Hill suggested by Pepe.

Apart from having the body work and stone chips etc repaired what else should I add to the list.

The car is March 2004 model...has been serviced at Lexus dealers. And has done just under 97000 miles.

The cam belt was changed in 2010...but the dealer did not change the water pump! Should I have that done? My Lexus dealer says they looked at it and it didn't need changing. As you can see the car is over 10 yrs old and I wish to keep it for the next 10 yrs...I only do about 3000 miles a year!

Some of you may remember when I posted the topic Is LS430 good value?....this car cost me dear in 2010....but fortunately since then it's been trouble free and so even more of a joy to own!

I am keen to get anything that could go wrong fixed before it goes wrong such as the recently alerted problem of failing intercooler that let's coolant to ingress into the gearbox thus fishing it up! I know the value of the car is pennies now but what an amazing piece of engineering!...and no evidence of any rust...anywhere!

So please help me with what I should ask Mr Hill to look at and fix if necessary...my budget is £5000.

I feel this is the cheaper option than trying to buy a replacement car that would give as much pleasure to drive in utter peace and comfort! And of course the Mark Levinson's sound system is just amazing ...

Here are a couple of photos of her...

Thanks

Shiner

My advice would be fix it when it breaks. £5000 may appear a large sum but when it comes to lexus cars you can spend that very quickly. If it is working ok leave well enought alone and just enjoy it.

That's what I would do. The car looks fab in the photos. If it were me I'd be putting the money away for an expensive rainy day, if you plan to keep the car for 10 years that rainy day will come.

There is a nagging feeling that with a car as beutiful as yours is ,keep it that way but you have to enjoy it as well.

Look in the mirror each morning do you notice a change, no!Look in the mirror every year do you notice a change of course you do but thats ageing and so is your car.Enjoy life and enjoy your benefits of life .

Hi Shiner,

I also own a 2004 LS430 with 65,000 miles on the clock. Like you I decided to have it 'sorted' and it is like a new car. I feel so different driving it now. The cost of the work wasn't too bad but the finished result fantastic, some of it was done under warranty and the rest I paid for. It was well worth the cost and effort. You just cant buy this sort of quality without selling your house now adays. I would have got very little in part exchange etc. so decided to keep it, bite the bullet and get it sorted out.

Good luck with the project.
