that's is a lot of money!

just googled that part number - nothing comes up - have lexus kept it a secret?

if anybody finds an independent supplier please post up so others can save a bit of money

P.S I hope im not causing premature damage to mine by leaving the aircon on all the time

Most likely...without the compressor you should not be getting any air con!

Also apologies for giving the wrong part number

It's

E88310-50152

Too many items on the invoice!

I have been to see a garage today who I was taking an A/C compressor to

The clutch on the compressor had gone faulty and as a result sometimes it kicks in and sometimes it doesn't

I have access to parts catalogues if you pm me your reg number I can try and get a genuine part number

It looks like the part number for Shiner's compressor is for LS430 12/2004 onwards, yours may be different

Does the E in front of the part number mean exchange ???

my guess is no because I had a look on toyo diy and it was around that price

although if one was to do a bit of digging around the genuine denso part can be be bought for a lot less and fitted by an AC specialist.

Yeah it can but as you have just looked on toyodiy you will see that the pump is different for a 5sp or 6sp and on the 6sp there is 3 different pumps it can be depending on month of manufacture

I think Adam is right...E must be for exchange

because the Toyota do not require it to order this part .

Incidentally, my LS430 is manufactured in 2003 according to the date on the seat belt labels.

Well-- I think I may have found the answer to slight vibration in steering wheel, yesterday I was playing around with the A/C when it was turned on the vibration returned,when turned off it went, also the cold air was nowhere near as cold as it should be,any ideas of possible problem?

Cheers Norman

  • 2 weeks later...

I did not replace the compressor as the air con works perfectly around 70% of the time which is better than nothing but still a pain when it won't work when I need it. Is there anything else I could try to get it working every time. Lexus Dealer in Ireland is the same service as Halfrauds.

Another thread on here made mention of an a/c check routine.. I'm sorry I don't remember who/where it was posted, I just copied it for future reference: sounds like it may be needed later this week. I know I will, I'm taking mine to Paris tomorrow and from there to Aberdeen next Monday. I do this trip every year, it's the only way to travel!

....................

I've Just done the error code check on the air con.

With the ignition off, whilst pushing both the buttons marked 'auto ' and the air re-circulate one with the picture of an arrow curling to the right, turn on the ignition.

All the little green indicators will flash, and the screen shows 00. Press again the air re-circulate button and the system goes to sensor check. It goes through all the heater vent controls, the button functions, including front screen de-ice, temp change, etc, and a code appears in the display.

These are the codes

00=normal

11=inside temp. sensor

12=outside t/s.

13=After evap. sensor

14=water temp.heater radiator

21=solar sensor

22=compressor lock detected [short of refrigerant does this one]

23=coolant pressure

31=air-mix servo potentiometer

32=IN/OUT change damper servo potentiometer

33=Mode damper S/p

41=air-mix damper S/p.

42=IN/OUT change damper S/p

43 mode damper s/p

To cancel push the 'off' button

Certainly the air conditioners and heaters in these cars are superb. I can't run mine at maximum cold either, too cold on my arms with the face vent's setting chosen. There are a lot of bubbles in the sight glass too so I expect the A/C to be even colder once I have it serviced with a new dryer fitted.

I run the air conditioning all of the time, just varying the temperature as needs be. I don't think that running the A/C will cause premature failure of the system.

cheers

Air con update for me. Found some polish guy who specialises in air con. He said there was too much oil in the system. He then took out the compressor and cleaned it out and resealed it and showed me the worn seal which was leaking. He then did sole odour removal which is not the aerosol u get in Halfords ! It cost me 160 and it is whisper quiet and ice cold. Thanks to all who suggested getting a second opinion before buying new compressor.

Bloody polish !!!

Coming over here and taking our jobs !!!!

Good job really as the rip-off British man wanted to stitch you right up :P

Can't fault Polish peoples work at all they will make do and mend where other people want to charge you full wack for their convenience not yours. Glad you got it sorted out and cheaply too.
