Strange Noise From Engine!

Recently iv noiticed that when I turn on the car and either accelerate from low revs or just rev it slightly there is a weird scratching/sloshing sound from the engine?

Seems to run fine and no engine lights etc.

Anyone had/seen this before?

Hi is the noise from the engine or inside the car also check water level in the radiator not just the overflow tank

From drivers seat it is infront of me

Sounds like cooling system, as above check the coolant level!

Sounds like you either have low coolant or an air lock in the system

Heating system can make gurgles if air inside, myIS (the American site) has info on this....

does it sound like water trickling just behind the dash? I had this as well as over heating problems a month ago, turned out to be the head gasket that was away? :(

Yeah mark thats pretty much what it sounds like. What ended up solving it for you? New head gasket?

Hi if your head gasket was blown then you would be losing water from the rad have you tried running the engine with the rad cap off and run up to temp

To expel air that maybe trapped in the system

I have got this same problem, did you try running it with the cap off and did it work?

I'm going to try and run mine with the radiator cap off at some point with the hope that it will expel any trapped air and solve the issue. I don't know if mine is having this issue due to an aftermarket rad being fitted?

I tried running it to amazon temp in car and coolant level high but no difference. Noise was still there.

ended up turning up the stereo and selling the car with the problem
