Warranty Offer

Recommended Posts

A quick heads up for you guys i got contacted by my dealer offering me 2 years lexus warranty for the price of 1. Apparently it's a a promotion lexus uk is offering at the minute. Now my 09 car is covered as it seemed like a no brainer.

I'd imagine so Andy.

Not applicable for me sadly. Mine had already run out of warranty when I bought it.

Must admit I don't see it as being much of a problem though.

These cars seem to be pretty well put together to begin with. Even the US forum doesn't have much to report in the failure department.

Worth doing though for peace of mind if you have a warranty I guess.

Dont forget it's under £400 a year and £125 of that is lexus assist

Mine has been out of warranty for a month but i have used the same dealer for last 4 years for my isf and gs 450h sport (if you thing an isf is rare there is only 93 sports in the uk) before that. At a guess they let me have it due to knowing my history.

IS-F warranty is around £900 a year, so for two years it is a very good deal. However beware Lexus have two types of warranty, one that is very comprehensive and almost matches new manufacturer's warranty, and another one which is poor value with poor coverage and low claim limits. Worth verifying which one they are offering.

Just confirmed that warranty for £795 for 24 months is available see email below. He does say service packages, but I'm sure he means the warranty. I will get some paperwork tomorrow to review.

Just under £400 per year is good value, considering the prices that some marques will charge.

'Good to hear from you again.

You are correct, there is an offer for service packages at the moment. 2 years for the price of 1. For the IS-F £795 for a further 24 months cover, purchased from the dealer.

Let me know if you want to go ahead and I can set this up for you. You will have to be quick though Andrew as the programme has been more successful than Lexus imagined and there is talk of ending it'

I spoke to my local Lexus dealer yesterday as I was in about my fake tip problem and they confirmed the offer is on until the end of the year. They will honour it for me then as my 1 years warranty runs until March 2015 and tack it onto the end. £799 for two years peace of mind is well worth it especially as they recommend paying by direct debits so if there is a change in ownership you can cancel the DD and not lose all the cost.

I also got them to clean, regass and health check my air-con as I'm getting a musty smell and it's only costing £69 which seems fair enough. The only downside is that the courtesy car is an IS300 which is going to take a few minutes to adjust to. At least it's not a CT as they scare me with their lack of acceleration. First motorway slip road in one of those and I thought I was never going to get enough speed.

The way I read it, the extended warranty is only available if the manufacturer's warranty is about to expire (after 3 years from new) or if the approved Lexus warranty is about to expire (after 1 year from sale). I thought I missed out on this excellent deal but I don't think I would have been eligible anyways (I've had the car for 4 years now).

I wonder if you can add it onto the end of the dealer's warranty? That would cover me for 3 years.

I bought a second-hand (non IS-F) IS on Saturday, and I was able to do exactly that (i.e., paid for an additional 24 months cover, which will start when the Lexus 12 months cover expires). So I have 3 years warranty on my new (to me) car.

If you have full lexus history they may be willing to do it. Can't hurt to try.

you may have to pay for an inspection, otherwise people will try and purchase a warranty only when there is a problem.

True but if the cars sound then worth the question.

I'm not sure this is the case. The Ts and Cs state that the warranty is only eligible for lexus UK cars under 10 years old with less than 140,000; however, if the warranty is extending an existing lexus warranty, and provided there is no lapse in cover, the 140,000 mile restriction may be waived. I infer from that, that you can buy the warranty if you don't have one already but the car is less than 10 years old with fewer than 140,000 miles.

Reading it again you may be right. Damn! If only they had this offer back in March when I was looking for a warranty extension. Now its too late, I am stuck with a third party warranty that costed me more! Hopefully won't have to use it...

I have also just bought a used approved ISF and was able to do exactly the same.

Hello everyone by the way - seeing as this is my first post!

Thanks Peter. Nothing planned in the short term although I would consider the H & S rear exhaust mod later on. I see you have made some very nice improvements to yours :)

Sounds good Sham. :)

Yep, got a fair few nice bits done on mine mate.

Lots more to come as well! ;)

Let me know if you need any help on the mods front. I'm regularly over in the States on business, so can bring bits back if people want anything.

Enjoy the motor fella. :)

My one year dealer warranty is about to expire so I'm going to purchase the two year add on. It doesn't seem quite as comprehensive but it's better than a big bill...
