Looking To Replace My Ls400 With Another

Recommended Posts

I have had my current 1995 ls400 for the past 6 years or more and have used it daily.

It has by far been the most reliable car i have ever owned and likewise also the only old car. In all that time i have had to do nothing apart from servicing, tyres, brakes etc.

Anyway i am hoping to find a genuine low mileage replacement in nice condition at a sensible price, ideally in the Kent area.

If anyone knows of something genuine, up to date service wise with cambelt changed etc i would be grateful to hear about it.

My current car is still pretty good but sadly the paintwork needs some attention and it is difficult to justify the cost to have the job done properly.

Ideally a mk4 but likewise a mint mk 3 would also be ideal.

Thanks

I do have some pics somewhere of how it looked when i bought it. It wasn't 100%mint but was as close as. I possibly could have found a better one if i had spent longer looking.

Cutting a long story short i bought it just to use for a two week holiday touring Devon and Cornwall, i liked it so much i kept it. Lucky i did as a few months later i lost my job and the associated company car. Been using it every day since. Have done about 70k in it and done nothing apart from services and tyres. Amazing car really.

I am convinced the paintwork problem came about as a result of these hand car wash places? The pressure washers they use i think likely caused the problem. But maybe i am completely wrong.

Laquer has peeled off the boot lid and in various patches all down one side. Has a few other niggles as well hence i have decided to find another if i can.

It is still a good car and ideal for someone who wants to slowly get it back up to scratch without the distraction of using it every day.

I will organise some current photos and find the older ones when i get the chance and post them up.

Fuel consumption still amazes me as well, especially if just cruising down the motorway.

:whistling: I know a guy in Ramsgate who is pretty good at paintwork, especially if it's just the lacquer lifting ! The lacquer on these is usually good, in fact never seen one that's not. Might have been an earlier paintjob that's not lasted and maybe there's a simple cost effective solution if you decide to hang on to her.

Let me know if you wanted his number.

That low miles Mk4 in Ilford (on Autotrader, I think) isn't too far from Kent. It did need a cambelt, though.

Thanks, i did enquire about that one. As you say it needs a cambelt though.
