Moonroof / Sunroof Leak

Recommended Posts

Hi guys. My 57 plate 400h leaks through the rear of the moonroof (drips heavily) onto drivers head during car wash or hosing or heavy rain. I reckon it's blocked drain holes - comment? I can locate the front holes but are there rear holes too? If so where / how do I reach then please? Any tips on cleaning out the holes? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Any top tips please?

There are four, take a look here:

Easy to test with a bit of water. They normally get blocked underneath the vehicle at the exit or the hoses detach from the frame of the sunroof. Compressed air can help with the first issue, for the second you have to remove some of the roof lining to take a look.

Ok. I've done some testing. It turns out that the rubber surround (around the glass of the roof) is where the water is getting in. I reckon the drain holes are fine. So, any of you guys got any ideas on how much it would cost to replace the rubber piece, and how difficult it a job this is, and most importantly whether anyone knows of a garaged in Southwest London that could possibly do the job without charging me an arm and a leg! All comments gratefully received!

I'm not sure that rubber is available separately to the glass. Can you see some damage? It may be possible to fix with some sealant. Otherwise I would try some silicone spray on the seal and keep the roof open for a whilst to allow the seal to expand a little.
