Hello. Last week I purchased a 2007 LS460SE with 60,000 miles 1 owner and full Lexus SH. Usual spec with Mark Levinson stereo etc.

I am simply in awe of this car and cannot wipe the grin off my face driving it. I had driven a 1998 BMW 728i from new and had 380,000 miles on it but after 16 years felt time for a change!! actually it was a great car and its still going. I did a deal with local BMW main dealer on a 2007 730d and was due to collect last week when I test drove the LS. Game over really and that was that. I took the wife along to see the Lexus and help me make the decision I had already made. Her view was that the LS was "infinitely better" than the 730d so that was that.

Car is mint and only downside is the annual 1800 euro road tax here in Ireland - BMW was 1500 euro so a little less.

I have a question which I don't see covered in the various threads here but I think is a known issue. I have an Iphone 5S which connects with Bluetooth to the car and allows me to make and receive calls but cannot transfer contacts the transfer just fails. Any ideas or guidance on a workaround for this please?

Congrats Peter, sounds like you made the right choice.

With regards to the contact transfer, the Lexus system tries to do it in a way that the Iphone will not allow. There are really only a couple of choices unless you want to manually enter them or individually copy them:

transfer your contacts to another phone and sync that

use a laptop and software to transfer the contacts using Bluetooth. For OS X the following program works:

http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Utilities/Prius-Phonebook.shtml

neither solution is ideal but there is no other fix. Lexus aren't going to update the system and apple won't either because they feel the transfer method that Lexus want to use is insecure.

Congratulations on finding a car better than BMW. Please pass the info on to the Top Gear team as they still need convincing!!

Dont tell anyone as they will start buying up all the good ones and when we want another one we wont be able to find one. Its our secret. Let them motor in pure ignorance. Mike.

Oh yes Pictures Pictures Pictures Please.

Phil, the Top Gear team are totally brainwashed in favour of any German marque and biased against anything Lexus. You'll never convince them of what we know to be true.

Colin

Thanks for help re phone contact transfer. I had a go at the Prius program but my vehicle kept disconnecting the Bluetooth on transfer. I tried your other suggestion with another phone and as I had a spare Blackberry I used that and it worked a treat so job done. Many thanks.

I'll post some photos in the next few days as requested.

If you pay that much road tax, does it mean the roads are better than the moon craters we have to deal with over here on the mainland.

By the way nice looking car, and like you once I had come over to Lexus can never imagine going back.

Seems like Nissan with their Infiniti are trying the same game of Japanese luxury, with what looks like hybrid of BMW and Lexus styling!!
