Executive Edition Equipment

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been considering changing my IS250 Advance for the 300h Executive Edition however after wading through the Lexus web site it seems the Executive does not have a reversing camera or electric seats which seems a backward step from my existing Advance. It also has “Navigation” rather than “Premium Navigation” – what’s the

difference apart from the reversing camera (desired) and connected services (not sure if I need these!!)?

Also very frustrating that a sunroof is only available with Premier models although Premier does then offer the camera, electric seats and Premium Navigation the price increase is huge.

Navigation comes with the rotary knob whereas the Premium Navigation comes with the Remote Touch interface. Dont really know what connected services is but im sure someone else can explain. Price difference between the executive edition and premier is due to other options which come as standard on the premier.

Connected services is the remote internet portal. You can download destinations from your computer direct to the car. It also gives you street view of your destination and local parking availability.

Premium Nav gives you DVD player, connected services, enhanced audio system (extra speakers), remote touch controller and reversing camera. The Executive, whist a good deal compared to the Luxury, doesn't provide a way to upgrade to the premium nav.

I certainly agree that Lexus seem to have taken a step backwards in terms of standard equipment, especially to regards to electric seats which cost a ridiculous £2,300 to add as an option on the Luxury model.

In addition to David's points about connected services it also provides real-time traffic updates in addition to the standard ETA functionality of the standard Nav system. The connected services rely on Internet connectivity which is normally provided via Bluetooth or Wifi tethering to your smartphone.

Although the premium is nice, I only got it because it was free when I placed my order, I would never have paid £2k for it, it's like going back to 2003 from my Iphone TomTom with live traffic. The connected services are OK but 1/2 the time they never download and you have to fight to get it connected to the phone (Iphone hotspot issue more than the car).

I think the Executive is good value, I would definitely have gone for that over my SE if I was placing my order now.

Thank you for all the replies, I think I could manage without the premium navigation functions and the electric seats but would really miss the reversing camera, I find it very useful in terms of safety and confidence when reversing. If the navigation screen is fitted as standard then the camera must cost about £10 to add, seems very un-Lexus like to scrimp in this way.

They are clinging on to their 1998 business model of trying to get £2,000 from their customers for Sat Nav. Now that is almost an impossibility they are withholding other features, such as a reversing camera, to force people to still pay out.

Personally I find the reversing camera very useful, however at least with the Executive trim level and up you get front and rear parking sensors.

The very latest brochure (dated August 2014) for the IS is available here http://www.digi-flips.com/digiflips/lx/l/a8484884/digi-flipbook.html

It would appear to have the 2015 model year specifications, it has the Executive model listed and explanations for all the options and option packs.

Sunroof availability is now listed as only available on the F-Sport model.

LED front foglamps are now standard across the range.

The August '14 pricelist for the Lexus range is here - http://www.digi-flips.com/digiflips/lx/l/a7588389/digi-flipbook.html

Yes it is a private purchase and you are spot on about a slightly used Premier as I have just started looking in that direction, I have also stared looking at the GS which seems to have all the equipment I need.......
