Smart Key/electrical Problem - Help Needed

LS 430 2001 X reg - today driving to take the partner to her shopping, car was driving fine all smart key elements and electrics working. Dropped her off and only noticed after about 25 mins of further driving that she had the smart key in her handbag. i had the valet key so put it in when i noticed the warning, Then the problems started.

Wing mirrors folded in whilst driving and will not come back

Alarm (doesnt sound like car alarm) coming from nearside boot intermittantly even when driving and when Battery fully removed

Smart key light does not flash and all keyless system not working

various electrics not working now - front soft close, door open lights, auto front lights off on exit, all back seat electric (massage etc), seat belt adjusters - may be others that i have not found

Car not locking with or without key fob/key (drivers does with actual key but not others).

I tried the smart key button but nothing, i took the Battery off and that alarm still went off.

Car drives fine when key is in

Any help appreciated

Got an answer from the US site. Amazingly all these electrical problems stem from a faulty rain sensor unit. I disconnected the unit this morning and everything is now working again.

glad you got it sorted - its a new one! - do the symptoms return if you connect the sensor?

my 04 plate sounds an alarm with a warning on the dash if the key goes out of range whilest the engine is running - does yours not do that?

It does return when i put the problem one back in, but i have ordered a newer one from a 2005 model, i hope they are compatible, i suspect if i had not read that US forum i would already be 500-1000 in the hole, 7 days garage time, 4 of which was Lexus and my dealer would have charged the full lot to find that.

There has been an alarm in the past but maybe with me dropping her off, the radio on and it also raining i just missed it, anyway not sure how much that contributed but you never know with shorts and electrics
