is the obd II port always powered i am asking this as i want to buy a small elm327 adapter to leave plugged in the obd II port permanently but i dont want to drain the Battery by doing this, does anyone know

Confirm, OBD port is powered all the time, but I have mini bluetooth interface plugged in for over 2 months now, no problems at all.

ialready have one of the larger elms and want to get the mini one ike you have so its discreet and it cant be knocked

No probs. You can see that red LED of interface is on all the time, but I had no Battery issues so far. On the other hand I do not really need it plugged in, I did some programming and that was all.

BTW if you leave your car in neutral for longer you will get Battery management error in ECU, not on dash. Happened to me while car had wheel alignment done and putting it in neutral was the only way to allow front wheels spinning freely.

Valid points. My concern came from not knowing how good these devices were in limiting Battery drain & from hearing issues with (more advanced) obd-powered units being capable of causing Battery issues. Also, it cost the same price as one that didn't have the control!
