Three Seats At The Back Of An Is-F

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Need to pick your brains.

As you may be aware I have recently purchased an ISF. Naturally a lot of my friends have never seen one 8 the flesh. I must say they have been very impressed.

One friend in particular has been blown away by it and wants one, however the one big thing that is stopping him is the two seats in the back as he needs three.

So he has asked me if it is possible to swap the two seats in the isf for the three seats from a normal IS?

Any information on this would be really helpful.

Thanks

Sully

I may be wrong but I thought that the ISF had a much larger drive shaft/diff arrangement that meant that a regular rear seat would not fit in the back. I think this is why Lexus were forced to put in two seats as the high and narrow centre was not sufficient for a middle seat.

Could be wrong but an internet search may help - particularly on the U.S. forums.

Good luck

Sully, I was also told there was an issue with regards driveshaft etc but there seems to be an owner in the US who has successfully swapped the base/bench from a standard IS assuming they are the same in both the IS250 and IS350. See link below:

I have a hazy recollection of a story that suggested in one of the markets that the car is sold there is some law that prohibits cars that can go over a certain speed having more than 4 seats. It sounds like one of those 'Internet facts' and I never bothered checking its veracity.

I have been keen on the ISF myself but the 4 seats has been a deal breaker. It's great to know that the IS250 seat fits. The only issue now is that I want one with white leather and if you want to use the IS250 rear seat then black is pretty much the only option I guess. :(

That's actually quite a good idea.

I am a bit concerned that I won't enjoy it as much as the rest of you as I have been driving the IS250 for a few years now and the ISF may just feel too familiar. I will probably test drive one first and then decide.

Having s*x with the queen and megan fox may feel similar but the experience and the package is very different...you know you want an F :)

I drove a 250 a while back, trust me, an IS-F is a very different beast....

I can imagine!!

Seconded...layout will be familiar but everything else is so much better. Well....maybe apart from ride comfort :whistling:

.

Concerned but I think I might be able to fix this one with coilovers.

LOL - Interesting comparison.

Having owned an is250 of which was fully loaded and got the full exterior body kit plus f sport exhaust, induction....blah blah blah blah blah. I can say from my own expereince of owning an ISF they are 2 totally different cars. The is250 was more close to my GS300. My GS450h was a different animal and quality to both of those and then the ISF is just another level.

edited.....selling is restricted to gold members only..sorry.....

Considered the GS450H too but don't think its easy to park around London. I am more luxury oriented to be honest but I just love the shape of the 2nd Gen IS especially the ISF.

The hunt is on. Looking for a face-lift model in white with white interior and sunroof. Not any around at the moment but hoping some come along when the RCF is launched.

I must admit I have never seen the combination that you are asking for...........however there are more 2nd and 3rd facelifts appearing as they slowly end there lease and warranty!

Mines a 2011 facelift with DRL in White with white interior and sunroof with only 18k miles! Don't think I've seen another in this exact same combination for the last 12months.

They do seem quite rear. Trying to find out the difference between the 2nd and 3rd face-lift models for comparison apart from the obvious (DRL & Speedo). Does anybody know?
