Efi Relay Clicking - Removed Junction Box.. Need Help

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi all this is my first post, anyway had my is200 for around a month now, however recently I have been having a small Battery drain and getting around 300 millamps drain when everything is off, 100ma of this is the radio memory however the other 200 goes when I removed the mbx-2 fuse....

Upon further investigation it is not either of the ignition cylinder switches as even when i remove the connectors it still persists,

I then have read about the junction fuse boxes corroding, so I though as the EFI relay is a switched earth relay that could be the problem... as the relay clicks irratically

Anyway here are some photos of the passanger side junction box corrosion can anyone tell me if this is what is causing the problem ?

It could well be,the green colour is oxidised copper which will still conduct electricity so curent will be leaky across the terminals.

Clean as much out as possible including the plugs that fit into there with isopropyl.

It is normally water ingress that causes this so you will need to try and find where it is getting in.

Water will also travel along the wiring due to capillary action so you may find there is damage to the copper strands in the wiring looms.

Any history of the car being involved in flooding?
