I am aware that there are a lot of topics and posts on LS430 air suspension issues.

My local garage have recently replaced a defective part on the rear suspension as this was not rising. They have confirmed that all of the sensors and the relevant suspension parts are going up and down but the car is now sitting high on the front side.

The rear suspension is sitting correctly with the front too high and they cannot work out what the problem is

Any ideas please fellow club members on this one ?

On a related note this may be of some interest to you - I am tempted to swap the air suspension to a conventional system and found a OEM Lexus kit from the usa - I'd be keen to know what your thoughts were:

Reluctantly, I have decided to drop my car into a Lexus dealer to investigate.

I'm disappointed to have this issue on my vehicle especially given that the vehicle has done less than 50k miles.

I will await news from them but one way or another I have to get this issue sorted out as I can't really drive and enjoy the car.

hope its something simple mate like reset or recalibration.

mine has always sat 1 inch higher at the front and i always change between hi/low and sport modes to ensure everything moves freely

Thanks for your post Mark. My local garage who are very good and have done lots of work for me on various cars are annoyed that they can't seem to fix this issue.

They have checked and swapped around a number of the sensors which all work fine, they have re-checked that voltages are all correct

Interesting that you say your front has always sat 1 inch higher.

I did try to change the Hi / Low setting using the Sports button and it didn't appear to make any difference.

The garage had to replace a rear suspension bracket as this side moved down but not up, they cleared the error codes and tested it and it all worked fine. Within 5 minutes of me taking it out for a drive the next day, the VSC warning lights came back on and the car didn't appear to sit right.

Very annoying and not what I had expected of my car but I hope to get it fixed and without too big a bill for it

hi

when you select hi you should (with music off) be able to hear a faint hum of the compressor running and the car rises - the difference can be seen clearly - and should return to normal afterwards.

mines a 04 with 118k

Thanks for this advice Mark - I'll ask my garage to check this. I am pretty sure though that when I selected the 'Hi' option using the Sport button that nothing happened. My car is the facelift version on a '53' plate and it's only done 46k miles which is barely run in.

My previous LS400 had done 230k miles when I sold it last year - sometimes I do wish I'd held onto it but I wanted to run and enjoy an LS430 for a while

your not alone - i bought my 430 and couldnt adjust 3 months later - then went and bought a 400 to go back to - spent x amount to bring upto my standard then got talked into keeping the 430 by the family! - so far no regrets but when a see a nice Mark 4 i want it just like that mint green one auto trader.

Fingers crossed I'll have my 430 back in full working order - the main appeal of it was the colour combo, condition and the low mileage.

Thanks again for the advice - will keep you posted once I hear back from Lexus on the verdict and the dreaded cost !

I think it's normal that the LS430 seems to sit lower at the rear. It's a good idea I think to change the height from time to time, as you say, to keep things moving and working.

Reluctantly, I have taken my car to Lexus as 2 of my specialist garages have struggled to get this sorted out.

1 of my garages did say that the Lexus dealers have been really helpful with him & even talked him through a recalibration process but no success.

The latest is that Lexus are insisting that 2 sensors at the front of my car need to be replaced before they can try the recalibration so I'm now already £950 down and the car is still not yet sorted.

Bitter and disappointing pill for me to swallow to say the least.

I really want the car back and to be enjoying it again.

If those two sensors don't correct the problem, can you insist that they remove them and not charge you for them?

Returning the original sensors to their place?

My local garage were struggling to get the car to sit level particularly with the front being a lot higher than the rear. Lexus were very helpful and said that the car's suspension would need to be recalibrated all round and I agreed to let Lexus do this.

Lexus started this work and said that these sensors would need changing as the voltage running through them wasn't correct and that this was the only way forward. I didn't feel like I had much choice so I agreed to this.

Thankfully replacing these sensors has resolved my issue but it has cost me a few hundred pounds to put right

mixed feelings of happiness then?

glad the problem is fixed. Lovely cars those 430's. Its because I looked into one almost the same colour as my own (bronze) that I took the leap from Merc to Lexus after owning five Mercs.

Still not totally enchanted with the Lexus but getting there, or will be when a few more things finally fixed.

Definitely mixed feelings - I took a bit of a gamble buying this car below retail price and no warranty and it's just unfortunate I have had to spend money putting it right.

On the plus side though, I think I have got a car with a great colour combination but best of all the car has only done 44k miles

I haven't yet decided how long I will keep this one. I kept my previous LS400 for over 13 years and whilst I was glad to have sold it last year, I really missed having such a great car in my little fleet.

I do have a Merc CLS Shooting Brake - its very nice, modern, efficient and plenty of luxury but the Lexus still oozes some real quality for me.
