Boot Randomly Unlocking Itself

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Have an issue with my IS200 which has been bothering me for a while now. Hasn't happened for a good 6 months but today im at work and my boot has randomly popped open. The car is parked opposite my window at work and I look out to see my boot wide open. Nothing missing at all.

Has anyone else had this issue of the boot just randomly opening.

Hope you guys can shed some light on this.

Dean

Its happened in couple spots but always been in the work car park so must be radio interferance. Ive swapped between all 3 keys and it still happens. Only happens if i park near the offices rather than in the main car park. Rather scary to think that something else is triggering the remote boot unlock

I had this with a Ford C-Max - basically water was getting into the switch in the tailgate and shorting it out. Had to dismantle the switch and clean it out and then pack it with silicone sealant - was fine after that.

Not sure where the switch is on the IS, but it might be worth checking?

I don't know what the solution to your problem is, but I would advise that you "double lock" the boot with your key, so that it cannot be opened by means of a remote, or even by pulling up the boot-release lever in the car.
