Bluetooth Conectivity

Recommended Posts

Which phone has the best Bluetooth Conectivity to a Lexus IS300h 2013 with latest software. I have a Samsung Galaxy Fame and it's rubbish. Waiting for a call from Lexus customer services as my connection is fine for a day or two then it drops out or will not contect. I have to either turn the car off and on or the phone off and on, all while stationary inpark as it will not search or conect while driving. You can do 101 other things using sat nav, audio etc etc but not the phone.

I am only on pay as you go so suggesting things like apple phones is not an option. Is it my phone or the rubbish software?

lexus Bristol have been great but everytime I go there it works Ok.

Is your Fame unit compatible on the Euro web-site for the car & can you not try a mates phone to see if yours is imperfect?

Got to say, the Motorola Moto G (£140) I have now is way better and more stable than the Samsung Galaxy S3 (£360) I had before. Still have had a few Bluetooth issues, but these have been down to the car, rather than the phone I think.

I reconnected mine yesterday using the 0000 code in my phone even though the manual says the car has auto recognition, let's see if that works.

Because I did this the car picked up my wife's phone this morning so while we were approaching the roundabout near our house she searched for my phone, "that will not work" I say as the car is in drive but going slowly. Well it worked, first time it has done this on the move, so even more confused now.

I'm interested to hear what mccardal has to say about the Nexus 5. I have one which appears to work seamlessly until you realise it only ever copies over 320 or so of my 1300 contacts. I have spent hours of my life trying to work out a pattern as to why those 320 but I can't find no explanation. Its very frustrating as my partner is one of the contacts that just won't sync over. I'm totally stumped by it.

My Nokia 520 windows phone has given excellent service via Bluetooth, as has my Nokia 301 work 'brick'. Better connection than I ever had in my previous 220d, which gave intermittent connection and would never allow me to swap phones once set up.

Dear Mr Ward

Thank you for your recent email regarding your Lexus IS 300h and my apologies for the delay in responding to you. I am sorry you are disappointed in the Bluetooth function, however, I do not think that a software upgrade will resolve your outstanding concerns.

I have been speaking to Lexus Bristol about your concerns and I understand that you have an appointment there on Monday. I have asked that they discuss your concerns with the telephone functionality in some depth while you are there so that we can better understand if there is anything we can do to improve your experience.

I will follow this up after your visit.

Yours sincerely

This is the reply I had today after almost a week from Lexus UK. Seems they are in denial, I cannot find the list of recommended phones but Samsung Galaxy should be compatable. Will let you know how I get on Monday.

I didn't find the tool particularly helpful as it says the Iphone doesn't work for SMS. In fact it does receive and read them, but the option to reply doesn't appear. I understand this is down to apple and not Lexus.

Same here. I have a HTC One S, and have tried loads of combinations of different characters in names, addresses etc. The best I can come up with is there is a problem with syncing Google Contacts (which you look at in your Gmail account) with an Android phone, especially if there are duplicate items in the contact.

I'm still trying to work it out, and will let you know if I get anywhere.

OK, I've finally worked out what the problems are with missing contacts in the car. It looks like the car can't cope with having fields in your contacts with multiple lines (typically addresses, but might be notes as well). Android copes with this fine, but the car seems to ignore anything that is too complicated for it.

To solve it, I had to export all my contacts from Google Contacts into Excel on my computer, remove the line breaks, then copy them all back to Google Contacts.

Had a CT this week as a loan car, phone never failed to conect. Had the latest software ( whatever that is) reinstalled, paired my phone again and now it's ringing twice when it connects as it used to do. I only need my pay as you go phone to contect to the car, I do not use Internet on the phone so only using a fraction of what the car is supposed to do. Simples really.

The next few days will tell if it's worked.
