Hidden Menu Now Dash Buttons Re-Programmed Problem..help!

Recommended Posts

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

A trip to your local dealer may be the best if not the cheapest option, another solution is to disconnect your Battery for a short while in the hope that everything resets to default.

The internet can be a great resourceful place but if you are ever sat in an ejector seat and a sign says "Do Not Press this button" Don't :)

Absolutely no idea if this might help - if you have and android device and an OBDII Bluetooth adaptor you could try a few apps to see if you can change any settings.

I've used Carista app to change some of the settings (did not see one for select model) but at least might give you a better clue.

Carista is free to view (£13 to enable change settings) and the Bluetooth OBDII cost £7 from amazon.

Again I've no specific knowledge of this will help but may at least provide some clues!!

All the best and good luck, hope you get but all sorted.

Cheers

Matt.

rather than using the buttons and headlight switch to gain access you can try using the touch screen.

To gain access to the first menu level you press the display button so the contract and brightness controls are overlaid and the press top left, bottom left three times - watch the following:

the only ODBII tool would be one compatible with, and used in conjunction with, Toyota's TechStream software. You can search on eBay etc. for illegal copies of the software and compatible readers - but you need to know what you are doing, otherwise you end up in the situation you are in now.

If a main dealer cannot correct the issue then it doesn't look good, although they probably have never had to do that configuration in TechStream before.

The alternative would be to purchase a secondhand nav unit - I'm guessing here because it depends where those settings are stored.

I very much doubt a scanner will help you here m8 ...but it looks like a few people have done the same thing... I found this close solution on here > ... http://www.clublexus...l#ixzz3K1qoTCEN

I don't know if you guys ever figured out a solution to this. But I did the same thing and fixed it in just a few minutes.

First i went through all the buttons on the dash board to figure out

which one was now the "Info" button. On mine it ended up being the

"Winshield Defroster" button. I then held down the "Windshield

Defroster" button and did the headlight trick to get into the service menu.

Once I was there the touch screen was messed up in that it was inverted.

If I wanted to press a button in the top left corner of the screen I

would have to press the bottom right corner of the screen to access that

button. Once I figured out that trick I was able to press the section

of the screen that corresponded to the button I wanted to press.

So now that I knew how to get into the service menus and where to touch the screen I went in to change the model type back.

I accessed the first level of the service menu and then went to the

second level. I changed the vehicle type until it said "900N4WD" (you

will want to do "900N2WD" if you have the 2WD RX Hybrid) then I pressed

set and exited the menu.

All the buttons went back to normal and I vowed to never go into that menu again.

If you follow the link at the top of my last post & read through the whole thread I think someone found another way to get to the "vehicle type" screen in another post ... I'm assuming if you can access this screen without using the info button you can change it back ... ? ... I'm not entirely sure which screens they were as the pictures they posted were'nt showing up ...

I would think that you couldn't make it any worse so I personally would sit there pressing buttons until I fixed it or blew it up ... lol

If all else fails swapping the navi unit looks pretty straightforward theres one just listed with no bids & free postage ... > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-rx300-sat-nav-/291305914988?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43d32f826c

86110-48210 is from a 400h rather than a 300/350. You would think there would just be software differences between the two but Toyota feel the need to two different part codes so I wouldn't take the risk unless you can return it if it doesn't work.

The link to the one I posted said its for an Rx300 part number 86110-48130 on it ... >>> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-rx300-sat-nav-/291305914988?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43d32f826c

They only sold the 2nd gen Rx 300 from 2003 - 2006, so I would think if it definately came out of a UK Rx 300 it would work as there aren't any differences ... the 1st gen nav looks totally different & I doubt it would fit, the 350 & 400 would look the same as yours but the 400 has the hybrid screen so would be a different vehicle version, I'm unure what the difference would be on the 350 (wiki says it has a Generation V upgraded nav ?)

I would check my version for you but it's an Rx 400 so it wouldnt help .. I would bet that they are all the same unit with a different vehicle model type selected .(otherwise whats the point in having all the vehicle types in the sub menu) .. hope you get sorted m8 ... . :outforcount:
