The stock player in my wife's IS has finally yielded to ERR1 and it can't be cleared by the usual power off/on or clean the lens routines. She wants to keep the unit so I'm looking for repairers - any recommends? It's the top-loading unit.

I've seen one on eBay @ £220, but wanted to check any others.

Thanks in anticipation :-)

Try disconnecting and reconnecting your Battery. hit the eject button once Battery is reconnected and ignition on. This fixed mine. But it happened again after i inserted a copied cd. I left it a couple of weeks and resulted to listening to radio for a while. I pressed the eject one morning and out came all 6 cd,s and i haven't had this problem ever since. Either the unit fixed itself or i got lucky.

Been through that phase Noby - guess you were lucky!

Seems to be a gradual deterioration in its internals and we've reached the point where it's happening too often so it needs fixing.

Thanks for the thoughts.

ERROR1 is "cant read cd" try a lens cleaner through it first, also if your playing copied cd's you have burnt youself try burning at a slower speed this helps alot.

If you find its a lost cause and head down the path of buying a new after market headunit make sure you buy the correct amp by pass cable and facia plate, also when fitting it you need to give the cars areal a +12v feed to power it so you can pick up radio stations! Be prepared for some blooded knuckels and lots and lots of swearing!!!! lol

dont know about you guys but i recon the OEM headunit and speakers in the IS is the best i have heard in terms of 'quality' clear sound. when i say quality i dont mean listening to music through the unit and speakers at its loudest. in my car 'pimping' days i was running high end SONY headunit with 4 channel German made amp which handless a peak sound output of 1500 watts and a big sub woofer in the boot yes i was one of those you can hear a mile away with loud music thumping out of thier pimped cars lol and the sound quality i get from the stock OEM headunit and speakers beats my 1500 watts amp sub and pioneer speakers. infact it was good i never bothered to fit the units in my IS and sold them on eBay. my mate was also running Alpine units in his car and the sound quality from the Lex beats his aswell. so i recon you will need a very good brand head unit to match the sound quality of the OEM unit.
