Hi All

just joined today.

Brought a Lexus LS460 yesterday after years of driving a Soarer TT.

It is black with beige interior.

Talk about luxury and quality of ride.

A few issues though. One the way home the tyre pressure warning light came on with the yellow triangle, i have since had the pressures changed to 33 PSI all around including spare but warning will not go away even when using the reset button under dash. I guess it will need to go back to a Lexus garage for more diagnostics?

Also the interior is beige and there is no drivers floor matt....any recommendations there on what to get?. Passengers matt is black so would like to get same colour.

Must say it drives in total contrast to the soarer (obviously) but i am so pleased with it so far.....still reading the users manual (its like war and peace)!!

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Bob and welcome to the LOC. Great car, had one myself for 4 years.

When you say you have changed the pressures to 33psi, do you mean you have recalibrated the sensors, or you have just changed the tyre pressures to 33. If the sensors are set to 34 (probably) try putting an extra 1psi in and the warning should go away.

Always treated myself to a new set of mats when changing cars. Never seen mats sold individually, only in sets of 4.

Don't bother with the cheap ones on eBay, the car deserves the best, budget for £100ish.

Good luck with your new 'baby'. Graham

Welcome to the LOC and for becoming the owner of a superb vehicle.

I own an LS430 and I had the same issue with Tyre Pressures. My local garage pointed out the reset button underneath the dash and said that you have to push it for a minute or so before it recalibrates itself and the warning disappears.

A new set of interior car mats for my car retail for £120 from Lexus (not cheap) but I was glad to put in a genuine set instead of a set of cheaper / aftermarket ones.

I still can't mentally justify the cost of a genuine Lexus Bootliner though - over £200 for a bit of plastic is OTT !

If pressing the reset button for the prescribed time doesn't work, use the Display button to scroll through to the tyre pressure page. Make sure that there are 5 good pressures showing. It is possible that the previous owner had a tyre changed and the garage put in a new valve stem. The tyre pressure transducers are in each valve stem. You need to keep the originals or get a replacement from Lexus.

Apart from that, enjoy your 460 :)

thanks all for you great replies..so fast!

Yes i just got the tyre pressure added...did nothing else apart from using the reset button...i will try 34 PSI and if the message doesnt go then press the button for a bit longer!

Apparently some of the tyres were replaced so maybe they need new transducers. Lucky for me there is a ex Lexus mechanic based in hove you has all the dianostic machines to look at this.

To your point above how do i use the menu screen to look at individual tyre pressure...i couldnt see this in the war and peace manual!

Thanks all....i will go for the Lexus original mats!

Should be same as my 600 ... Thes a button on steering wheel right hand side.... Use this to navigate thru the screen menu on speedo display and you'll find tyre pressures

Ps my manuals are war n peace war n peace and a few conflicts thrown in 😆😆😆😆😆

In my manual, the info you want is on pages 164, 165, and 166.......under the heading: 2-2 Instrument cluster - Multi-information Display.

As Graham says, on the steering wheel there are 2 buttons on the right-hand side - RESET and DISP

The DISP button can be used to cycle through various bits of info on the Display which sits between the speedo and the tacho. One of the bits of info is the tyre pressures. All 5 tyres are displayed, but in no particular order.

Be aware that, after starting the engine, it might take a few moments for the tyre pressure display to become 'active'.

After reading 'War and Peace' you can look forward to reading 'Anna Karenina'......... the Navigation System Owner's Manual'. :)

Hi Guys

i cant get over how many of you have already replied. I was a memeber of a couple of Lexus Soarer forums but never got this type of response.

I have booked the car to go to a ex Lexus mechanic next week who can check out this fault and hopefully resolve...not nice to buy a new car with an error showing on the dash....funny thing is i didnt notice it on the test drive....i think i was so smitten with the car i didnt bother to look at the dashboard!.

To be fair the garage did ask me to return the car but as i live in Hove and they are based in Harlow i asked if it was ok to see a local guy....

What disappointed me most with the car (dealership) is that it also had low oil/low washer fluid errors appearing on my journey back to Sussex. I was told the car had a pre delivery check and one would have thought the fluid levels would be the first thing to check!. When i eventually found a garage i couldnt get the oil cap off which again wasnt a good sign!. I asked a burly lorry driver to help and he eventually managed to undo cap. When i checked oil dip stick there was about a millimetre of oil showing....i added 2 lites and since have had another added and well as topped coolent fluids. 3 or the 5 tyre pressure were low and the spare was 20 PSI!

I will be send the dealership a bill for the oil and the garage bill today....also they have agreed to pay the cost of the garage visit next week!.

Not a great start with life with new car but hoping everything else will be ok....

Sorry to bore you, but thanks again for taking your time to respond and your interest.....

Bob

Hi welcome, good to see a new face.

just for our edification, would you tell us the garage you bought your new Lexus from so that we can avoid in the future .......... heavens, if they can't be bothered to do a simple pdi check .................... and tell you they have, well, that's just BAD

I totally agree with Malc.

In fact, it might be an idea to get your man in Hove to give the car a really good inspection. The low oil worries me a bit. I find that, between services, I only need to put very small amounts of oil in.........3 litres of oil is an awful lot to add.

What is the service history like?

Ah yes, the oil ............... in between MOT and annual services, about an annual 10/12k miles for me now, I just don't put any oil in.

At service time tho' the oil is at the bottom read on the dipstick and that's only a litre between min and max I believe. ....... of a total oil ( incl filter ) holding of @5.5 litres

3 litres, well, beggars belief that it should have dropped so low.

Absolutely agree with Malcolm that any decent garage would never let a car leave their workshop without ensuring the engine has plenty of oil.

This is probably a silly question but have you checked to see if there are any oil leaks from the vehicle ? It could well be that the garage did check and top up any fluids but a leak could explain the low level now.

Hi all,

no oil leeks and car has a full service history otherwise i would not have purchased it.

I would rather not name the dealership right now as i want them to reimburse my costs so far but maybe once it has all been settled i will let you know. BTW it was not a Lexus dealership but one that specialises in Porsche and prestige cars like Bentleys.....that is still no excuse though.

Re the mode switch on the steering wheel there is no tyre pressure reading....it does say its optional in the hand book!...drats!

Maybe I'm being a bit thick but, if you don't have the tyre pressure reading feature, why did the warning light come on?

If you go to the Owner's Manual - pages 576, 577, 578, and 579 - you'll find a list of all the warning lights and what they mean. The tyre warning light can mean more than one thing.

I have started car again and tire pressure warning flashes for about a minute and then stops flashing....also have the yellow trangle with ! showing on.

No, you're not being thick........these are complicated beasts.

On page 579, the book says that if 'the tyre pressure warning stays on after flashing for about a minute: it indicates a malfunction with the tyre pressure warning system'.

The yellow triangle is the Master Warning and will stay on as long as another malfunction persists.

It looks like you do have the Tyre Pressure Warning System........but it has a problem.

I hope your man in Hove can get to the bottom of the problem.

I presume you have connected your phone using the Bluetooth facility (Owner's Manual page 409)

You can transfer your contacts (page 431) but I've heard about problems with I-phones........I have a Samsung and had no problems.

I use CDs or transfer files in the MPG format onto discs and play music from that.

yes its Bluetooth linked..maybe as you say its an Iphone issue!

Managed to get car to garage where diagnostics were performed....yes, it is just one tyre that has a fault so hopefully he can replace sensor valve next week and that should clear error. Good news is there were no other faults so car is looking good!

Thanks all

Nice. I miss the roar power of the Soarer but the 460 is sheer class and as I approach 60 thought I should treat myself for sometime special.

I will look at the option you mentioned regarding playing music from Iphone

Cheers
