Annoying Things That Lexus Didn't See Fit To Grace Us With On The

Recommended Posts

Don't get me wrong, it's a great car, but Lexus have overlooked some very simple things that the 3GS should have. They are, in my opinion, as follows:

1. A sunglasses holder where the sunroof controls would normally be (when there's no sunroof).
2. A boot light that comes on automatically, and therefore, one that you can't leave on accidentally.
3. Illumination on the seat memory controls and door lock buttons.
4. Variable illumination levels on the footwell and door handle lights.
5. Brighter puddle lights.
6. A boot and passenger area 12v power point.
7. Cooling ability in the armrest and/or glove compartment.
8. Iphone compatible Bluetooth (for phonebooks).
9. 19" wheels from the factory

Anything I've missed?

Calipers that don't seize ... but I guess time will tell

Automatic dimming glass all round (for when the suns out)

Fair point on the calipers but the auto dimming glass is a bit far fetched for a standard car in this class don't you think?

I'd like to see automatically retracting mirrors when the car is turn off, opening again as part of ignition sequence. I asked my dealer about it but was told it's not possible with the series 3 GS.

On the subject of the boot light - is it not automatic when then boot is opened? Does that mean my boot light is on 24 hours a day?

Agreed, those would be nice.

Meh.

Um, the light comes on when you open the boot and goes off when you shut it. Unless I've misunderstood what you're saying.

.

8. iPhone compatible bluetooth (for phonebooks).

Don't know... works well with my Android phone (including phonebooks) :P

In any case, the 3GS predates the Iphone.

.

9. 19" wheels from the factory.

Thank god it doesn't. The ride comfort from the 18" wheels is just right, if already a tad on the firm side.

.

Anything I've missed?

Creaky interior...

The MK4 has automatically retracting mirrors so Lexus must be listening to us from somewhere!

Auto open/close boot would be great.

Memory seat control illumination - yes, that would be usfeul.

Sunglass holder where sunroof controls are - that would be good for those with no sunroof.

Not having to tap "I agree" on sat-nav everytime I start the car.

More trip options on the dash display and remove redundant one(s) such as outside temp when there's an outside temp display already in the middle of the dash!

Wing mirrors to go down properly when reversing and to go back to the CORRECT position after. Mine barely goes down and is inconsistent when returning so useless and therefore I have turned it off.
