Hi Richard

on the drivers door panel the door mirror switch has to be set on auto and door mirror switch has to be aluminated for either left or right, the mirrors should then automatically fold in when you lock the car and fold out when you un lock it.

Uhm, I have a 2008 GS450H too, but in my GS there is only a button to close manually mirrors, while if i leave the setting switch ( that one to regulate mirrors position) in R or L position I only have mirrors moving down in reverse to see better road on sides.

I red somewhere time ago that there is a mod made by a russian guy to make mirrors close at power off of GS.

I asked my Lexus dealer whether this was possible on my 2006 GS and got the impression from their reply that it was only possible on the (2008ish) facelift model. Whether it can be done by the owner or needs to be switched on by the dealer I do not know.

Hi

This thread on the US Lexus Club site gives a DIY guide to making your mirrors auto.

http://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-third-generation/711436-auto-folding-mirrors-on-gs.html

Bit of mucking around though.

Also there is a comment further down the thread about excessive use of the mirrors folding function wearing out the plastic gears that actuate this.
