Thursdays channel 5 new classic car program with Quentin Wilson and
Jodie Kidd (It could do without her) on Thursday evenings.

I wonder if Quinton will have an LS on there as hes a great fan of the mark.

Enjoy. Mike

Really disappointed with the program.

I like Wilson normally, and Kidd, but there was no chemistry whatsoever between them, and their conversations were laboured and obviously scripted.

Still, at least it's got cars, so as with the increasingly poor Top Gear, I'll probably still watch.

There are two stages to senior moments. It starts with stage 1, where you get to the top of the stairs and then can't remember what you went upstairs for. Stage 2 is where you have to pause for breath half-way up the stairs, and then can't remember if you were going up, or down. ;)

Probably when you rediscover the free bus pass you have, get on the 1st bus that arrives, get off at its final destination and you have no idea where you are,how you got there or where you originally came from :)

We havent had a bus route where I live in the last 40 years, thats why there are so many oldies wandering around the countryside not having a clue where they are going, we are called, yokels.

I found the programme stilted and too scripted ............ hope the subsequent ones are better viewing..

Presentational skills from both were a bit weak tbh.

Watched a few minutes and decided not for me, I like to see a bit of Chemistry not just between presenters but real affinity with the 'object'.

That is why I prefer Guy Martin a man with a spanner and a hammer who knows what he's on about. Shame he is not into cars, but great to see him working to make anything mechanical run at 100%.

I wonder what Guy would make of the LS if he got his hands on one

Paul,

Good to know that Guy is an all round decent car nut.

He is like an updated version of Fred Dibnah. A no nonsense bloke who likes things mechanical and total lack of bulls**t.

I wonder if Fred could have got one of his traction engines to go over 200mph :whistling:

I dont think speed ever came into Freds ideas. RIP Fred still love watching you on Sky. Mike.

I had also compared Guy with Fred Dibnah. Sadly, people like Fred and Guy are few and far between. Fred was clever with his hands but was also intelligent and a a gifted artist, whose drawings were incredibly detailed. Both Guy and Fred had no pretensions whatsoever. What you see is what you get. Having worked in the public sector and tolerated all sorts of bullsh*t, with frequent, pointless meetings and inept managers spouting endless corporate speak (e.g. "robust procedures and "park it" ), to hide their inadequacies, people like Guy and Fred are very refreshing.

Well, coincidentally 'Pistonheads' today features a (2nd hand) Rolls Royce at £89K; and the 'Classic Car Show" is featuring the RR Corniche.

I'm reminded that I have an old comparison review of the LS 400 (Ser 2, I think!) when they compared it to a RR, and, in many ways, preferred the LS!

Certainly a bit more manageable, I'd guess, and, really, RRs are for the passenger?

Bit better last night, I thought.

Wish I could say the same about last Sunday's Top gear, an hour of my life wasted.

Time they grew up imo.

I have stopped watching. It ceased to be a programme about cars a long time ago, and has also ceased to be an entertainment (or entertaining) programme.

Me too. Haven't watched TG for a long time for those same reasons. Haven't caught the new Classic car show yet.

Yep. Always liked Top Gear, but they're getting to the age where it's all a bit silly. Hammond is so false and affected it's embarrassing.

They are all intelligent blokes so I'm sure they could produce some decent programmes. Lot of interesting things out there. They just need to stop with the scripted/spontaneous nonsense and be a bit more engaged and serious, but retaining a sense of humour. I feel they have painted themselves into a corner and have to continue in the same vein, perhaps to keep their fan base.

They meed to work out what demographic they want to attract (perhaps they already have and we are not it).

The bit I really can't stand is the obviously scripted, sycophantic interviews with their guest "stars"
