Hi Guys,

I have a 2004 RX300 and I am having an issue with the system reset not engaging when I remove my key from the ignition, this has been intermittently happening for around a month now, until the last 3 days when its been happening constantly.

I take my key out and nothing happens, previously the steering wheel would retract and I would then be able to get out and lock the doors remotely, now though the rcl won't work because the system isn't resetting.

I am guessing because its happened over a period of time that its not a blown fuse, and more than likely an issue with the ignition barrel, has anyone come across this before? help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Chris

Hi Nelmo,

Thanks for that, at this stage i'm willing to give anything a try, Lexus have quoted me £800 for a new ignition lock.

They think it could be an issue with a tumbler not engaging or something when the key is withdrawn, my first step is going to be to get the remote fob Battery changed, I had it tested about a month ago after a strange issue with the car not starting, then it started but the remote didn't work, so I sat in the car and locked/unlocked the doors 4-5 times, and it worked again...strange cars these Lexus! but i'll definitely look at the Battery too.

Cheers

Hi Chris, I had exactly the same issue with my '56 reg RX350. After a bit of research I bought myself a little can of graphite lubricant, it comes in a tiny container with a nozzle you push into the key hole and spray into the lock. It took a few days and a second spray (don't use too much). All working perfectly again now! Be patient it took a while to work its magic.
