Hi guys

Would the plastic surround for mk4 in the centre look better from America. I am 50/50 at the moment.

I was thinking it would be harder to press the buttons, Looks silly or better?, Does it look cheesy?

On the plus side it looks like a rolls royce with the wood, Does it look classier?

You guys any thoughts

Agree that the full wood console looks - not quite right - and even in many a classic UK marque too much wood looks a bit tasteless. A mate has the full wooded version of an LS, and it looks like a badly designed drinks cabinet!!!

Wood is for boats and log burners IMHO :whistling:

Looking again at my beautifully engineered masterpiece of Japanese design, considered a true classic by the cognoscenti with its clean lines, understated authority, just a hint of the huge power available from the superb V8, every driving convenience then available - in short, a miraculous combination of speed, comfort, good looks and safety - you have to say it's surprising that Lexus got the interior so "cheaply and tastelessly" wrong......!

Clunkfish .....Lol so your saying because it doesn't have the fake stuck on wood effect that Lexus interior is cheap and tasteless... OMG lol

My personal opinion is no it looks cheap and way out of place

I had a imported SC400 limited that had this stuff on centre console when I got it...my first job was peeling this fake plastic rubbish off...

But as I said that's my opinion,

My wife doesn't listen to me so not expecting anyone else to either 😝

Erm...no mate, someone else said that the wood surround, despite being selected, designed and installed by Lexus, was cheap and tasteless. I would not use those words to describe what someone else has said they like, because to do so would be pretty rude in my opinion.

I'm simply pointing out that it's a surprising verdict, given that the rest of the car is so well designed and with a great deal of understated elegance.

By the way, it is real wood veneer, not "fake wood" or plastic. I agree that those would probably look out of place, but walnut veneers in a car with leather seats and deep pile carpets seems entirely in keeping to me.

Sorry, but I'm of the "it's looks fab in all wood" opinion, I'm afraid. To me the 400 could have done with more wood right from the off. The cabin is a bit plasticky compared to the 430. The 430's cabin is how the 400 cabin should have looked like in the first place. Gorgeous.
