Mpg Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi can anyone help me im currently getting around 14.3mpg sometimes 13mpg travelling 10 miles a day to work there and back (5 miles each).

Is this normal for IS200 as it seems to be extremely thirsty, costing ££££ to top up everytime. my car does not show any warning lights/service lights on the dash. Also I have a Scangauge 2 diognostic/trip onboard trip computer which I can scan to see if there is any problems with my car and it currently shows no faults. Does anybody know what could be wrong with my car? surely I should be getting more mpg that that. Bearing in mind that I do not drive fast?

Clutch Problem +2

Also Im having a problem with my clutch, my bitting point is very high! higher than my previous cars, I could almost lift my foot off the clutch completely to change gear. My car judders everytime I change gear becuase the bitting point is so high. When my foot is pressed onto the clutch there is very minimum pressure from the clutch. Does this mean I need a new clutch? Aslo my clutch keeps on squeeking alot when pressed and is very irritating and ebarrasing.

The IS200 is known for being "very thirsty". Your car is 14 years old and you do primarily short trips each day. That would suggest to me that you will get very poor mpg. I have been there as at times I got similar figures to yours but generally 17mpg during the winter and 21 - 25 during the summer were normal. On long trips I would get about 36 mpg. You need to question the purpose/usefulness of this Scan Gauge (I assume you bought the car with it in situ). The fact that it is there does not mean it is installed properly or is doing anything purposeful.

How long have you had this car? and has it been serviced regularly?
