  2. No-one wears a tie anymore. Except perhaps lawyers in court!
  3. True but the risk factor is mainly the driver rather than the type of vehicle in that scenario.
  4. Hi all, Apologies that there are existing threads linked to this topic but I wanted to probe what a normal mpg return looks like on UK roads for a gen 3 RX 450h? I got a 2010 with 150k last week and whilst the car is generally very good, I have been a tad disappointed with the mpg. I've not done a long motorway run yet but on some mixed, very careful driving, I'm just about managing 30mpg. With such pronounced effort to be economical, I was hoping for 33mpg. What generally hits mpg hardest in these cars? Can a higher tyre inflation help, e.g. 40 psi? It's got 13 Lexus main dealer service stamps so surely it's well oiled and spark plugs have been changed (i know at least some have from the myLexus app). Ride is a bit choppy and suspect rear bushes have some play but keen to hear people's thoughts. Is 35mpg possible on a long motorway run with controlled speed? Thanks all...

  6. My ls400 has lpg, I've had it converted myself back in 2018, and had the cambelt and waterpump replaced in 2020, bought the parts myself from lexus and had my local trustworthy garage do the work without any issues I'm in the Midlands and had the work done at a garage called the mechanic in ward end, but lex tek in Sheffield can do the work too.
  7. Hi John, No you can’t switch it off, it’s an inherent feature of a hybrid and how they work, the car will work out what it needs to do and when so you will find the ICE will stop and start at various times, not just when you stop at the traffic lights😀 hope that helps Kev
  8. Watched the new 4K UHD version of ALIENS last night.
  9. On the motorway I tend to get between 38-42mpg depending on conditions. That driving at 70mph. The 2.5L V6 isn't a particularly economical engine for its size as its an early 2000's design. However its tried and tested and extremely reliable. Don't be slightly alarmed if it sounds slightly diesel like, especially when cold. That's how they all sound. Injectors apparently.
  10. Update: Had the new screen fitted yesterday, a date chosen to coincide with my latest hospital visit. All good and the chap at the Auto Windscreens place couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Warranted against screen or fitting defects for as long as I own the car, apparently. As an aside, the Struie road which has been closed for nearly 2 months is now open again. On the way south, I came of a downhill section with wide open sweeping curves and spotted a squad of m/bikes heading up in the opposite direction. On one left hand one I encountered a bike on my side of the road, right in the middle. They were well spaced so he couldn't have been trying to catch up with his mates, just inattention I suspect - I think they were foreigners. I can attest that the brakes and steering on the Lexus are spot on, don't know who got the bigger scare, him or me. I suspect his underwear was in a worse state than mine, though. No video clip or screenshots, as the dash-cam was at home, me having removed it from the old screen ahead of the replacement..... Further down on the A9, I passed a string of McLaren P1s heading in the other direction, all of the colours too. I made it a total of c 24 - looked to be heading for the NC500 route. Looks like the silly season is underway already.....
  11. Looks suspiciously like she's thinking of throwing a con rod. That's an old fashioned joke for our younger viewers!🫢
  12. Thanks, Paul. I 3D printed a Go-Pro camera mount to stick to the wheel arch... ... It Verks! Lexus DRS 1.mov
  13. I’d confuse myself …… at least with the inbuilt obsolescence of the redundant satnav screen ……. outmoded and outdated and me trying to get it to work better than my iPhone maps stuff which is always uptodate and spot on …… probably 🤔 nope, I think I’ll pass on the opportunity Thanks all the same 😂 Malc
  14. Excellent news…not the lemon you first thought then ! 👏🏻👏🏻
  15. Lexigirl day out at Wyredale Park and Lake. With brunch at The Barn at Scorton. Extremely beautiful place.
  16. Nick. That’s exactly how I do the adjustments. As no one can say what the correct value is, I just aim for 46cm ish. If it looks ok I go with that.

  18. When I bought my E4, I was already 'comfortable' with the size (or lack of it) of the UX boot space! So AWD didn't make much of a difference to my decision. It wasn't that expensive as an option and is a nice to have, I think. For anything other than weekly food shopping or 2 weekend cases etc, the rear seats have to come down anyway. The UX is not really a family car, but it's great for us as a couple. I can still get 2 grandkids 6 and 8 year-olds in the back with their car seats on school pick-up duty once a week - but I wouldn't want to do it every day! As for AWD performance, I can't say I've noticed it so far - but then we don't (or at least haven't had) a winter like in Sweden - yet! Regarding mpg, it's all going to be down to how you drive it.
  19. My multi-car renewal quote from LV has just gone up by 40%... 😞 The UX250h element went up by +80% compared to +22% for each of the other 2 cars. Nothing had changed - no claims, no convictions; just no claims bonus increased by a year and cars all a year older... So I thought I'd shop around with multi-car providers I'd used before. Admiral wanted +52% more than LV!! Aviva wouldn't cover... despite emailing me and inviting me to get a quote! We need these security upgrades - and insurers need to know they are fitted!
  20. Congrats! Looks just like mine 😀

  22. IS200 2003 in blue which has been my pride and joy since 2010. Good runner, with 4 new tyres. Body work is reasonable with one small dent in back bumper (been quoted £75 to push out). Done 171,000 miles and serviced every year until recently. Enquiries to broadbent385@aol.com Based in Ipswich MOT due mid May 2024. Looking for £900. First to see will buy. Buyer to pickup.
  23. The 2011 Cat S which was 15.9k yesterday is now at 13.9k , which makes me regret buying my 08 😭😭😭
  24. I was only given a complete key and told the rest will come as a recall. No second blade. Will speak to the dealer and go from there. So it looks like my local dealer was correct.
  25. The RX500h should support Android Auto - however, at this time, it’s not wireless and you need to connect via a usb cable. Note that only one of your usb sockets in the car connects data to your screen (the rest are for charging only), so you also need to ensure the right cable is connected to the right usb port.
  26. Sorry I missed out that info! The MARK is '5024', so https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ls-phase-3-radiator-mark-5024/ 16400-50241 ( 'MARK' 5024 Type B ) looks like the best bet. Thanks everyone for your help!
