  2. Blimey Aylesford's a long way for you …… been thru there today The ICE “ specialists “ I approached in Kent, all over, a year or two back were absolutely a DEADLOSS Not one inspired my confidence on the phone ! Good luck Malc
  3. I had previously contacted Chris at SVT Services, who I found recommended here on the LOC as offering repairs to Mark Levinson systems. He has been forced to close his old premises due to Coughid but has re-emerged as Bose repair experts. He still offers a repair service but only to the Amplifier section not the Head Unit which I require. It doesn't switch on, with no sign of life. The car has been jump started, and a new battery fitted prior to my ownership, so maybe it is frizzled, or possibly just in anti-theft mode? He can be contacted by email: support _at_ boserepairexperts.co.uk or on 0330 808 4151 I have since found Dave Car Audio Medics in Aylesford in Kent who does offer a repair service. email: info _at_ caraudiomedics.co.uk info@caraudiomedics.co.uk
  4. I've been using an MA1 for a couple of years on my RAV4 without any issues, hoping it works as well on the 450h+ that I'm due to pick up in a few weeks' time. It would be nice to have wireless built in, but after reading up on this, like Smish, I won't be holding my breath.
  5. Ah yes ……. I’m appeased ……. I did insist he bought a conventional Kia petrol “ old fashioned” well proven monster of the 7 seater SUV ……. it hardly goes anywhere tbh …… his driver hire costs his business about £7.50 a day for a go anywhere 24hr chauffeur ( with rests of course 😄) one of the joys of India living Malc
  6. So I thought I'd make a start on the non operational radio head unit. I found a manual for the unit 86120-24420 Toyota/Pioneer. It was easy to remove suggesting things had been out before, and some bluetac on one of the deepest bolts confirmed my theory! The hardest task disconnecting the radio reveal switch in the gear shift panel, especially with cold hands. I found a detailed manual on the Czech Lexus Owners Club and joining became the hardest task so far On getting in there, I see that someone, hopefully more professional had disconnected the Tyre Pressure Module. At least they wrapped the plug in a small plastic bag.... Who mentioned UXB's
  7. Hi All, I have ordered this MMI upgrade: Lexus Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto MMI Retrofit Interface ( - Bavarian Automotive (bavarian-automotive.co.uk) I will update once I've installed.
  8. eCVT on RC/IS is less dealbreaker to be fair, yes it still drones at 4000RPM or so when you on middle of accelerator, but it revs up if you push it to the floor, or if you go in FSport+ mode fake "upshifts and downshifts" are both instantaneous and satisfying in the bends. I guess if I would improve anything on it, that would be that in Fsport+ manual mode I would make it to keep the "ratio" that you have chosen for longer, or even forever. Currently, it keeps the ratio I don't know... maybe for 30s or for 60s, so sometimes what happens is that by the time you go from one turn to another it goes back to D and drops the ratio. So for example you playing around with paddles on eCVT before the bend you change to "3rd", then "4th" in the bend and you already see another bend, so in such case if you would be in real manual car you stay in 4th, rev it to the limit and before next bend maybe change back to 3rd again... what happens on eCVT is that when you rev out the 4th and let's before the bend with intention with braking a little bit and changing to 3rd the gearbox simply goes to D and sets probably ratio equivalent to 6th, so now you start braking and instead of expected 1 click to go to third, you have to change ratio 3 times. I mean it works like poorly optimised automatic gearbox in this sense, but all that is software and when it works it actually mimics DTC quite well, the only problem is that short memory where after 30s it goes "WTF is going here - I am economy car and 4th gear at 60MPH is not economical, let me fix this". So really the fix would be simple software update where FSport+ and Manual would mean no auto upshifts and it would be in manual mode as long as you keep it there, not just for some arbitrary time. Well the second problem is what engine that eCTV is matched to. GS450h for example is still great car to drive despite eCVT, because drone from nice V6 is not so horrible, drone from pesky 4 cylinder in 300h is much more annoying. But apart of that eCVT in Lexus is one of the best systems where I would go as far as saying I almost like it. In summary - mate it to V6 and make manual mode real manual and the rest is good already.
  9. As you say modern electronics are probly more sophisticated than the 90's cars. I looked in the handbook and can't find anything about this. I was more used to working on cars with points and plugs and carbs. Electronics is over my head.

  11. Hi guys, Just putting the feelers out for anyone who might be looking to sell their MK4 GS450h in the coming months. I’m looking for a Premier spec GS450h, not massively fussed on colour or interior combo. There are a couple on AutoTrader that I’ve lined up to go and view, namely one in Pudsey and another in Wokingham. Also spoke to a nice chap on the forum here who might be looking to sell his soon. If anyone has anything or knows of one please do let me know, anything would be very much appreciated. Many Thanks, Josh
  12. It's very frustrating. What on earth do they think is going to happen. When people are spending a large amount of money on a car, they are going to want the backup and support of a premium retailer. 'Coming weeks' is just not good enough, i'm sorry. There's no reason why they cannot give an accurate time frame for product delivery.
  13. Some owners are having to make considerable use of the warranty - Google “kia mild hybrid tensioner” - due to an engine that seems to have a reoccurring and very expensive fault. Sadly many vehicles have been off the roads for several months waiting for the parts as well. It hasn’t been a positive experience for them. Excepting the engine issue, I would tend to agree with this… except probably not the Picanto. I drove one when my partner was looking for a small car… absolutely awful thing and engine. Only thing worse was probably the Honda Jazz. Went for a 2 year old Yaris in the end… The rest of the Kia range seems pretty good though from what I’ve experienced. Kia have also shown that they can build good EVs - and we have to be honest that the EV6 is a much more realistic EV proposition (with a real world range of 300 ish miles) than the Lexus UXe and RZ with their very limited ranges (170-200ish).
  14. Lexus changed the wording in their notice from “April” to “coming weeks”, suggesting an extended wait and longer timeline than originally envisaged. Until the post says a solution is available, and dealerships actually have something to update/install on vehicles affected, the answer to this thread is quite simple: zero and no-one. https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/?
  15. Hi I am replacing the air suspension valve 48096-50040 which directs air to the 2 rear shock absorbers. How do I disconnect the air lines, I can squeeze the 2 arms of the nylon retainer together to dissengage this from the valve body.....is it then a case of just pulling the line out. There is some resistance to pulling on the line and I don't want to damage anything. However it has probably been untouched since 2005 so perhaps it is just a bit stiff. Any advice please? ScottC
  16. I was at the dealer yesterday and the new fix mentioned by Lexus in March is not yet available. (All that there is currently is the RX CANbus plate) Paul
  17. These are awards made by Lexus to the dealers in their network. There is no paying to enter, and not 'everyone is a winner' because clearly some dealers didn't win anything. It's who Lexus GB believe are best in these categories.
  18. Hello guys. Has anyone managed to solve this issue on their own? I'm also stuck on the third USB flash at the "Installing DCU MAIN" phase (DCU (REPRO) Vup Completed. Dealers in Poland are charging $400 to resolve this issue, and I would like to save some money.
  19. In todays money a 6 figure car ! All for less than 5 figures ! The wife would like it a lot more if you threw her and a case in the car, dropped that hood and followed the sun for a few days. You'll be looking at the same blue sky as me this morning and places like Grange etc are just outside you back door.
  20. But someone on here said that you get a free bag of weeds if you had bought a new Lexus?
  21. I thought i'd start a thread based around the CANbus fix through Lexus. Personally, i'm very disappointed in Lexus. I know they are not the only manufacture to be troubled by this, however, over the years, I have avoided getting an RX due to CAT thefts, and this is something else which is just tainting the brand. I fully acknowledge that they cannot contact every owner as DVSA do not consider it to be a safety issue, however, they could easily have sent a letter to anyone who has had their vehicle serviced in the last few years with them. Annoyingly, this fix is going to be chargeable. If anyone has had it, could they state how much it has cost them? My nearest dealership is an hour away, which means that if this fix is completed, it will take most of the day to complete. My concern is, however, that this is still going to have an impact on these cars. Once this fix is put in place, how will an opportunist know it's not worth their time without dismantling your bumper as a fix has been completed? Maybe a window sticker is needed 😉
  22. Kia I’m understanding some years ago had a poor reliability record necessitating an extraordinary 7 year warranty Fact is now I believe that the 7 year warranty is rarely needed by buyers ……. Indeed I have pushed my senior guy in Delhi to have his company 7 seater petrol SUV ……. Kia …… for reliability, cost, prestige even etc The option alternative being a Maruti Suzuki model of some sort 🤔 Malc
  23. Looks like it's just a simple ring crimp connector, although it has an uncommon squarish shape they are usually round. Does it fit in a recess so it needs to be square.? Very common in all sizes in the round style, fleabay etc, don't know where you might get the square one, be easy enough to get a round one with the right size hole then square it off with a file to make it fit if needs be.
  24. Thanks. I don’t typically take 2 week holidays but it sounds like it should be fine. I will be using the car regularly, at least once a week and short term storage over the winter where it will be on a battery conditioner.
  25. Collected my Honda E:Ny1 yesterday, nice drive home and still some battery left. Sad to leave the nx at the Honda dealer but that’s life. To rank my previous cars I would say the LS400 was best, LS430 next, then NX followed by GS300, IS300 then IS200. The most exciting was the Lexus Club events in the mid 1990’s. The Honda is superb, dealership not so good so far. Paperwork took a little time to match the deal we had agreed! Told me I could match the MyHonda+ app with my car at home, then find it needs a Honda mechanic with access to Telematics the first time. Then find the flat tyre compressor is missing from the boot. To be fair they have dealt with these issue very quickly. Likes over the nx. Really huge infomation screen. Touch screen instead of that crazy Lexus touch pad. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Apple Maps full screen top, Apple Music in the middle and dedicated air conditioning below. Genius. NO ENGINE NOISE during acceleration, just a quiet whoosh. Lights come on with fast wipers automatically. Doors close as quietly at the nx. Look and feel quality 99% of the nx. No visits to petrol pumps. Free servicing. Yearly safety inspections. Transmission checks at 100,000 miles, battery and control checks at 150,000 miles. Dislikes. Not a Lexus, I’ll miss the coffee at Lexus Milton Keynes. I know I’ll miss the attention to detail during servicing. Lexus Sheffield and Milton Keynes were exceptional. The around 200 mile range of the Honda won’t be an issue with our current needs. The RZ ev was too big and just too expensive. The UX ev too small and too expensive. Leaving mainly because our driving distances have reduced but the risk of theft has been a factor. If it doesn’t work out I’ll be back.
  26. Here is the Car Care Nut video as he checks out the timing belt on an LS430
  27. Nice drive home in the Honda yesterday, off to buy wild flower seeds today.
