I had a claim in 2013 tree fell on my vehicle insurance offered 2000 but i bought the car back for 500 pounds, what am i legally obliged to put down on the forms. Meaning was the damage 2000 or 1500.

Looking logically £2K. Remember that the insurance company will also register with the DVLA that your car is now a Cat D which will take care of most of the £1500 residual value left in your car, add the two sums together and its £2K Mike..

It might be worth checking whether your insurer managed to claim from the landowner or council insurance depending on where this happened. If they made recovery then that should be on your file with them.
