Most folks don't expect LS drivers to drive hard, but if you know your own car's limits, and push the car harder than usual, then it can be quite a surprise for all the hot hatches that seem to rule most traffic lights.

I was always under the impression that it wasn't speed that kills. It was the sudden stop at the end of the speed. :P

Steve.

Hello fellows,

Why is it that you all are acting mysteriously about testing the car's speed? Or is it just the modesty of Lexus-drivers ;) ?

I will tell you how fast mine goes; I tested in on the German highway on a piece where there is no speed limitation. Conditions were good; almost no traffic and good dry weather, good view. This regarding the mentioned dangers op speed; fast driving is not dnagerous if conditions (and driver) are good and responsable; for instance you shouldnt drive 250 km/h when there is a lot of traffic I think, although Germans have an other opinion ahum...)

I was driving with my brother and he asked me how fast the LS400 would go. I told him I didnt have the faintest idea ( I hadnt driven faster than 235 km/h with her) so we decided to test it. I told him to tell me if he got scared.

In no time the needle pointed out 250 km/h. I accelerated till 265 km/h and then I myself got scared haha. not my brother, he was just sitting next to me smiling from ear to ear. The car didnt have much power left so I guess my car (not modded, standard '95 LS400, 264 hp) would go as far as between 265 and 270. Which is really fast enough...

By the way; at that speed she still drove like an angel. No motorsounds, no stange road-behavior, stuck to the road and steering was fine too....felt more or less the same as when driving 160 km/h, only more wind (an more adrenaline haha).

Greets,

Speedy J
