Power Steering Stiff At Start Up

I've just got an is200

When cold or first used steering is stiff and notchy when I'm trying to use it .once I've started driving it fine .just on initial start up .could it need new fluid .car has been looked after

Hi Ian, I owned a is200 for 8 years, it was one of the best cars I've ever owned....your power steering problem is most likely to be the drive belt for the power steering pump or power steering reservoir needs topping up, after checking both these are ok........start the car get it warmed up....then turn the steering fully from lock to lock a couple times..........let us know how you get on....I would put money on it being a slack belt though, good luck....
