My 2005 Lexus RX 300 after being involved in a front nearside accident came back from the repairers with a fault on the reversing camera. When reverse is selected the camera screen shows the rear view from the car Minus the parking guide lines, also displayed on the screen is "system not ready". this has been back to Lexus Bristol where they say they cant find a fault everything seems OK when it obliviously isn,t. anyone with any ideas what the fault is? I've done google and looked through the settings diagnostics menu picked the camera setting, it says speed signal ok, coloured in blue, the center steering button is shown in black, and i cant seem to get this to go blue ? and also the max steering angle? how are these set ?? I think they need setting before proceeding to the setting of the parking guide lines in the next section?

Did you go through Lexus approved repairers or just let the dodgy insurance company ones do the job? It'll need taking to Lexus and sorting out if you went through insurance ones, could be anything!

I drove it myself to Lexus in Bristol where they fed me with lovely coffee whilst the tech man and his computer battled my car fault  but they couldn't find what was wrong, so much for main dealers are specialists... if you google the fault it seems other people have had the same problem ? Has anyone found a solution........

Sounds like a wiring problem. Most likely,  whoever repaired your car has bodged the wiring up

Unfortunately the "System not Ready" still shows on the rear camera screen when in reverse, and the reversing guide lines are still not shown on screen whilst it has this fault. I still think it has something to do with the Battery going flat, and being left in that state whilst at the body shop!!

"HELP" is there anyone out there with any answers?

I think you need to get the codes read to ensure a sensor up in the nose isn't damaged.

You could try recalibrating the reversing guide lines and I am sure there is a post on here for that, if not, Google is your friend!

I know the car uses the steering angle sensor for the reversing grid on the screen but I am sure that would have thrown another code as it is used for VSC too...

It could be a wiring issue (corrosion at a plug/connector or a break in the harness) - if you ever remove the skin from inside the tailgate (such as when changing a bulb) you'll be amazed at the amount of gizmos and electronics back there!

Hello friends

,,Have the same issue I think.
Two days ago, got the car at service for rear bumper replacement. It is RX300 MY 2004 - It had the lines on the dislay, after that get  "SYSTEM NOT READY" not showing them anymore.
Once in the service menu, I can calibrate the steering lines etc and do checks on the camera, but get an error "5C-42" . The guy at the workshop, has no clue of the potential issue, the answer was" your model is too old to have the lines option"  😄 😄 😄 while he should be the guru in the area of Sofia...so I am here searching for options to check.
So I do enter the service menu, doing all settings with the calibration - left - right - center of the steering, but I am not sure if there is any need to Save the settings and if @Yes@ - how. No clue how to exit the service menu diferent than just turn off the dashboard.
Any help is welcome

Thanks for your time

I just wonder if the Battery has been disconnected, have you turned the steering from lock to lock a few times to recalibrate the steering system?

Have you tried turning the steering to full lock, holding it there for a few seconds and then turning to the opposite lock and holding for a few seconds and then back to original lock and holding for a few seconds?

The steering system may have to relearn where each maximum steering angle is so it can then display the lines accurately.
