Reprogramming Key Fob

One of my RX400 key fobs has stopped working.   The red light flashes when I press the button but the doors stay resolutely closed.   I took it down to a lock smith who told me there was nothing wrong with the Battery - it just need 'reminding' of its code - his term was: "its got Alzheimer's mate - they get that".  He reckoned a 'how to' should be in the manual (its not) or on the internet - where all I can find is talk of finding iffy looking software.

I obviously want to avoid a nasty spanking from dealer prices.   What are my options please?

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

How did the locksmith guy test the Battery, mine was doing the same with the light flashing but no operation and a new Battery sorted it so I would for the sake a couple of pounds fit a new one before anything else.

Not sure if this carried over from the LS400 but to reset those fobs you simply put the key in the ignition, turned to ign position and left it for around 10 minutes, remove key, reinsert and then it was reset.

Hi Tim and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over.

I cant help with your present queries but I'm sure someone will be along ASAP.

We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later
