Leg Room?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, new member here with several questions relating to a new car.

I own and love an IS200, I have had it for 3 years now but the lack of space inside is starting to irk me. I am tall at 6'4" and my car really isn't catering for my 43 year old knees anymore. I went to view an RX400H but again that didn't have enough leg room, it was more head room but the seat just wouldn't go far enough back.

So, does the IS250, or even the IS-F have decent leg room, or more in comparison to the IS200? I would consider a GS450H as well but the little boot on those worries me somewhat. Yes, I *could* stretch to the IS-F but it is a bit over-kill for what I use a car for *but* you only live once, right? Failing those models which Lexus has plenty of room for a proper sized human? :D

Thank you in advance.

Yes, enough space for humans in the back of the IS250 but if you're 6 ft 4 you're going to struggle in it as it feels smaller. GS450h is probably better though for leg room.

IS-F only has 4 seats btw.

IS250 and IS-F would be exactly the same . After 2009 IS has redesigned back seats which gives more space in the back - not exactly what concerns you, but I guess allows you to move seat more backwards (IS-F having one less space in the back makes no difference in the front). Comparing 1st. Gen with 2nd... I don't believe there is more space in later, but more controls helps adjust it better. I am around 6'1" and I am OK. One thing I found quite annoying though that in my most comfortable position middle pillar obscures my vision. I found CT being quite spacious in the front and being two door the pillar is further to the back so I have better visibility... but that is the only good thing about CT.

I would double on GS or even LS if you really need more space in the front.

I was doing some trips around UK with 4 or even 5 adults in the car... Obviously, 5 in no way comfortable. It is fine for 4 though. The only thing I would mention - there are not much leg room in the back, but even less headroom so back seat not suitable for tall people.

Thanks for your replies.

The rear leg room is not a massive issue as it will only ever be my daughter and my equally gangly son sits in the passenger seat. My wife has a seven seater Touran for the family stuff. So with the rear space not being an issue should I still avoid the IS due to my idiot legs?
