Can anyone identify this piece of metal I found in my handbrake

I recently bought an is200, after noticing various intermittent scrapping and clunking noises from the rear wheel,

I stripped it down and replaced pads and disks, something I wanted to do anyway, upon inspection I found this behind the brake disk:image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

Can't find where it's come from but it's fairly battered and bent , it had also bent the spring pins causing them to contact the brake disk,

after i had put it back together there's a fair amount of grinding, from both wheels, I've drove about 3 miles since and it's still there, it's kind of what I'd expect from the disk rubbing but I'm not sure if it's a bit excessive

Hi

I had a similar situation on my back wheel of clunking and banging. I had it stripped down and a cable guide held by a spot weld had failed and come loose, this was falling around in the wheel!

see these posts below and Tango's post explains it also

Just had exactly the same problem on my '04 IS200, however unfortunately mine is completely knackered (bent and partially worn away).

My rear disk backing plates are completely rotten, I've called Lexus and they want £250 each for replacements. Other than trying breakers yards does anyone have any good ideas?

Hi Try this group on Facebook  Lexus IS200 Classifieds (+IS300/Altezza)

Ricky Smith is always breaking IS200's and posts stuff to your address.

Hi all

Have just experienced the same problem on both rear hubs of my 2003 IS200.

New items from Lexus at £250 per wheel is not cost effective for me. Has anybody come up with another solution other than breakers as I suspect all cars of this age at the breakers will have the same problem!

Would running the car without them be a good/safe option?

Any replies would be welcome.

Thanks in advance

John
