MOT fail - rear subframe rot - gen 2 RX300

Interesting topic.

I’ve been on the search for an RX300 for the past few weeks and it’s fairly common to see corrosion issues with the suspension and other areas under the car. Not sure if it will put he off yet but worth considering given the low value of a 2003-2006 car v the cost to repair.

Does anybody here have experience changing the rear sub frame on an rx400h? Mine needed some welding recently and the garage advised that a replacement sub frame would be a good investment for the future as tin worm had definitely set in to it.

How did this go for you Chris? Did you end up having the subframe replaced and was It a big job?

I recently came across the same issue with my lexus rx300, 2004 rear subframe corrosion, so will just have it replaced but also looking to get a full Dextron underseal and cavity seal carried out, I know technically the corrosion has started but if done right should slow it down considerably, I want another five years out of mine if possible as its a lovely car otherwise and plan to run it until it dies.

I think this was the last time we heard from Chris. I sent him a personal message but he never replied. He did an amazing amount of work to his RX and some fantastically detailed posts. Worth checking him out. There have been others like him but he was up there with the best. I hope he's OK.
