241 Extended Warranty deal ending?

Hello all,

While my car was at the dealer last week, I overheard some of the service guys tell another customer that Lexus is possibly ending its 2 years for the price of 1 offer on its extended warranties.

I asked what was going on, and was told that they had received an email from head office telling them that it was coming to an end in December, but then another saying that it was going on for now in February.   He said that he wasn't sure what was happening, but the current plan is to end it at some point soon.

What I was wondering is if anyone else had heard it mentioned at their dealers?

I am sure I am not the only one who would consider it uneconomical to have to pay the same amount every year as I current do for 2.  As such, this has me slightly worried since having a warranty on mine has proved good value for money, and it gives me peace of mind.

Sounds like sales BS to me

The customer was probably enquiring about it and they said "its going to end soon" making the customer want to buy it

Happens all the time - similar to "this car won't be here long at this price!"

This is why I am asking here.  If others hear the same from their dealers, it would indicate there is something to this.  If not, then it is, like you say, a sales tactic.

  • 2 weeks later...

I had a two-faced sales guy from a Lexus dealership try to get me to pay for two years extra warranty on an approved used NX. It was only when I went elsewhere that I realised it was two years for the price of one and not the two years for the price of two at the original dealership. The original dealership also emailed me afterwards asking me how my experience was. I gave them some open and honest feedback.

Bit off topic - sorry - but this sales guy also tried to tell me my cheap rate finance quote from Nationwide was flat rate when I knew it was APR and know the difference. He was also trying to sell me the car at the list price because it didn't actually have nav as advertised but he would get it fitted for free for the list price as a favour.... Needless to say I went elsewhere and quickly got down to a deal I was happy with.

I've always tended to run my cars with extended warranties for peace of mind more than anything else.
