IS 300h

Hello

I've just become a member. My wife and I recently bought our dream car, the IS 300h. It is also our first Lexus.

I apologize from the onset if topic this has been brought up in the past.

I'm in need of urgent advise. The front and rear disks and pads need replacing as a matter of urgency. Lexus have quoted £570 total.

Due to the connection between braking and the hybrid batteries charging, do I need to give it to Lexus for the work.? Or are there

any independent Lexus specialists who can carry out the work? (for less money).

I live near Kingston (SW London). Any recommendation/advise will be greatly appreciated.

Car details - IS 300h / 2014 / 47,000 miles / Extended Lexus Warranty

Many thanks

If you just bought it surely the dealer should cover this or was it private?

Thank for your replies guys.

Sorry for my ignorance Peachy, what is an indi garage?

Ken - because of the hybrid Battery charging on braking, I don't want to take it to any brake place for the replacement.

Sorry about that old bean I meant independent garage. Any garage local (but not Halfords ) will supply and fit the brakes for your hybrid car at a fraction of the price lexus will charge you.

I assume you supplied the parts? Don't get a lot for £100 these days, I'd assume genuine Lexus parts( warranted) plus labour can't be much less than the op's £570.

Yes mate I did. Parts cost me 177 plus labour 100 quid so 277. Lexus wanted something like the above. Plus I get warranty from Euro car parts so same thing

Try pricing up the disks and pads via an online outlet. Either a local auto factor or MTEC, etc. Then make a judgement on how dear the Lexus quote is.

Oh and all parts come with a warranty so no need to source them only via Lexus.

It's always going to be cheaper to supply your own parts and get someone to fit, but £570 all round for discs and pads is not bad for a main dealer, certainly not a rip off as far as main dealer pricing.

how much would the parts alone be from Lexus, genuine parts?

But why use use a main dealer? Fitting pads and discs is a simple job and independent garages will do the same job as a main dealer for less money.

Sounds like the car has a Lexus extended warranty in which case the parts need to be genuine Lexus parts I would have thought to maintain the warranty in this area. Doesn't have to be done at a Lexus dealership mind. Servicing will have to be done in accordance with the Lexus spec and again genuine Lexus parts used. Unless it's an independent warranty.
