Intermittent check VSC light (only in wet weather)

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I need some help. My check VSC light comes on Intermittently. This has been going on for a few months. The strange thing is. It only comes on in wet weather. I've tried booking it in with a specialist but by the time my appointment arrived the weather was dry and the light had gone back out. I reset the ecu the other day by disconnecting the Battery and it went out. It's raining today and the light is back on.

Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated. Also I was thinking of getting a techstream off eBay and try and check it myself. What are your thoughts. My nearest specialist is 30/45 mins away and they are always busy so hard to get the car booked in on a wet day when the light is on. The garage has said they can only read the fault code if the light is on.

Regards Malik.

When you say wet weather, does that mean simulating wet weather with a hose pipe would make it appear, or is it the spray off the roads under the car causing the problem to show up?

Get a Mini VCI with Techstream. This will give you the fault code while the problem exists, and at circa £20 will be much cheaper than a trip to the dealer.

Thanks John, I don't mind the trip to the indi. It's just that I can only do it on a weekend so have to wait for a rainy Sat/Sun and try and get it booked in. That's if I can get it booked in. Yes I think I'm gonna go down that road.

Buying the VCI will also mean you can also use it for other things such as TPMS registration, and altering light settings ect that you would normally have to pay for along with any fault codes that may crop up from time to time.

I have used my VCI for over 6 years on my Prius the Lexus, and Aygo.
