Hiv/aids In Africa

Last night i watched a documentary on the HIV crisis in Africa.. it was one man in a van handing out condoms to everyone... it was interesting as 30% of the population had been diagnosed HIV or AIDS.

There was one bit which had me fuming.... get this

This guy visits a clinic where people wait for their results to see if they have HIV or not... One woman says "I hope i have HIV"... the bloke was suprised to hear the woman wanting the disease.

Finds out that the government gives out a grant (about £70 a month) for those with HIV... and it turns out these people are so poor they want to catch HIV just so they can receive the benefit so she can feed her familiy!

What an awefull situation to have to be in... put your neck on the line just for money and the government are helping!... the government are turning a blind eye on HOW to prevent catching HIV

That is shocking.

I saw a program a while ago on illegal organ trading. It was an undercover documentry, and the guy was talking to these people who were willing to sell their organs for the equivalant of about 10 quid in their pocket, just to be able to feed their family for a week or two!

Yeah, I saw this one too, MacIntyre Undercover. It was the illegal trade of organs and doners between India and the UK. :o

did you ever see the documentary about women spiking mens drinks then asking them to come home with them... when they got back they flaked out... next morning wake up on a park bench.. only to discover a huge stitched cut on their body

find out they have a missing kidney... it was stolen!

this being the same country that told people if you have s*x with a virgin then you wont catch hiv/aids - resulted in massive numbers of child rapes, this advise transformed into ' if you have hiv/aids and u have s*x with a virgin it will be gone'

but the best one was SA's president stating on nation television that hiv+ aids have nothing in common and that hiv will not cause aids!!!!

and you wonder why the whole continent is in such a s*** hole.
